Barcelona's internal turmoil

Barcelona's tumultuous season is entering a turbulent final phase, not only on the pitch but also behind the scenes.

Many Barcelona players are dissatisfied because they do not have much playing time.

On April 20, Sport reported that the “Blaugrana” dressing room seemed to have become a “fire pan” with the rebellion of at least three players who felt they were being treated unfairly under coach Hansi Flick.

Unexpected problem

According to inside sources, the three names that are creating a tense atmosphere at Barca are Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati and Hector Fort. Each has their own reasons to express dissatisfaction with the treatment and playing opportunities given to them by coach Flick.

Once expected to be the heir to the legendary number 10 shirt, Fati could not hide his anger after not being put on the field despite actively warming up in the second half of the match against Celta Vigo in round 32 of La Liga on April 19. Witnessing his teammates fighting on the field, Fati vented his anger by kicking a water tank and throwing his training shirt to the ground right in front of the coaching staff.

The relationship between the young talent and coach Flick is said to have reached the brink of collapse. Fati feels he has been "made false promises" since the beginning of the season and cannot explain why he has been continuously ignored, especially when he insists he is completely healthy and ready to contribute.

The situation puts agent Jorge Mendes in a difficult position in negotiations over Fati's future. An unhappy departure from Barca is entirely possible, adding more uncertainty to an already challenging final months of the season.

Hector Fort’s case is somewhat different but no less remarkable. The young defender, who has had little chance this season, caused a stir when he refused to shake Flick’s hand after a team victory.

Fort’s simmering anger stems from feeling left out of Flick’s tactical plans. Although the German coach always shows joy after each victory, Fort seems to feel that he does not trust him, leading to a rift in the teacher-student relationship.

Barcelona anh 1

Ferran Torres has scored 17 goals this season.

Not only Fati, Ferran Torres also could not keep his composure in the match against Celta Vigo when he was substituted despite having just scored and being one of Barca's most active attackers on the pitch. Immediately after leaving the field, Torres ignored Flick's handshake and kicked a ball hard on the touchline.

Assistant coach Marcus Sorg had to intervene to calm the situation, but the former Man City player's anger only subsided when his team staged a dramatic comeback. However, the aftermath of this incident certainly still lingers in the dressing room.

Waiting for Flick to show his talent

With just over a month to go before the season ends, coach Hansi Flick faces a major challenge: maintaining stability in a dressing room that is showing signs of "rebellion". These internal problems put a lot of pressure on the German strategist.

However, Flick is said to have no intention of changing his starting lineup and rotation policy. In particular, with Robert Lewandowski likely to be out for up to three weeks due to injury, Ferran Torres could become a key player in attack, forcing Flick to find a way to appease his student.

The current tension in the Barca dressing room raises a big question mark over the team's unity in the decisive phase of the season. Can Flick put out this "fire" of rebellion, or will the simmering conflicts continue to escalate, affecting Barcelona's ambitions?

The answer will probably be revealed in the upcoming matches, where the pressure to win and maintain internal stability will be paramount. Unhappy players will have to adapt to the coach's decisions, or accept a future outside of Catalonia.
