Flamengo is sending a clear message about its ambitions. After bringing Lucas Paqueta back to Maracana, the historic Rio de Janeiro club continues to dream of an even bigger name. Vinicius Jr., the new icon of Brazilian football in Europe, is at the heart of that dream.

Jose Boto, Flamengo's director of football, didn't shy away from discussing the possibility of a reunion. During Paqueta's presentation, he confirmed that the club always keeps the door open for Vinicius.

"His contract is about to expire. Vinicius even sent me a very nice gift, a signed shirt. With players like that, there's only competition if they really want to come. It depends more on Vini than on us," Boto shared.

Vinicius left Flamengo in 2017 to move to Europe. Nine years later, he has become a key player for Real Madrid and one of the most notable attacking players in the world .

However, the recent period has not been easy. Vinicius faced boos from the Bernabeu stands and endured a long goalless streak in La Liga, which was only ended last weekend in the 2-1 victory against Rayo Vallecano.

It was this context that led Flamengo to believe they could offer Vinicius a different environment.

That's where Vinicius is unconditionally loved, recognized as an icon, not just a star burdened with the pressure of achieving results. For Flamengo, bringing Vinicius back is not simply a deal, but a story of emotion and identity.

Vinicius' current contract with Real Madrid runs until June 2027. By then, he will be nearly 27 years old and have spent more than a decade at the Bernabeu. Jose Boto believes that this timeframe could offer a more realistic opportunity.

"When the contract is about to expire, we won't have to pay a transfer fee to Real Madrid," he said.

Paqueta's case is seen as a precedent. The midfielder had previously rejected numerous attractive offers from the Premier League just to return to Flamengo. According to Boto, without Paqueta's intense desire, that transfer would not have happened, despite the financial resources.

As long as Vinicius hasn't extended his contract with Real Madrid, speculation will continue. The coming weeks, along with the team's performance under Arbeloa during this crucial stage of the season, could play a significant role in shaping the Brazilian star's future.
