A place that connects the community.

The Phuong Mao village cultural center is well-built, clean, and beautiful, making it a favorite cultural gathering place for the villagers.

In Hoang Giang commune, the village cultural centers are effectively fulfilling their role as community hubs. These spaces not only serve as venues for meetings to implement political tasks, but also become familiar meeting points for residents in cultural and artistic activities, physical education, and sports, thereby contributing to strengthening solidarity within the community.

Phuong Mao village is one of the outstanding examples in the commune. With 335 households and 1,288 inhabitants, the village has consistently achieved a rate of over 96% of families recognized as "cultural families" for many years. The community center, built in 2005, remains well-maintained, clean, and beautiful. The interior space is rationally arranged and equipped with basic sound and lighting systems, meeting the needs of residents for meetings and activities. The spacious and airy outdoor area provides a favorable environment for organizing collective activities. Notably, the synchronized investment in auxiliary facilities has contributed to improving the effectiveness of the community center. The bookshelf, with nearly 200 books, has become a valuable source of knowledge for residents, especially young people. The sports area, approximately 800 square meters, regularly attracts a large number of people participating in volleyball, badminton, and Tai Chi exercises, creating a vibrant and healthy atmosphere.

Mr. Han Hai Vinh, village head and chairman of the Phuong Mao rowing club, shared: “The cultural center is now truly a common living space for the people. Cultural and sports movements are increasingly developing vibrantly, and the spiritual life of the people has been significantly improved. To maximize the effectiveness of the cultural center, in addition to regular meetings, the village also focuses on organizing activities such as cultural exchanges, sports competitions, thematic activities on the environment, security and order... creating a joyful, close-knit atmosphere and attracting people to participate voluntarily.”

In conjunction with the activities of the cultural center, the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement in Hoang Giang commune continues to be implemented effectively and in depth. Through community activities, regulations and customs are disseminated and strictly implemented; the self-governance awareness of the people is enhanced; and neighborly bonds are strengthened. This is also an important foundation contributing to maintaining security and order, and promoting socio -economic development in the locality.

While in rural areas, community centers fostering neighborly bonds, in urban areas, neighborhood community centers play a crucial role in building a civilized lifestyle. In Quang Trung ward, community centers in residential areas such as Phu Son residential group 5, Bac Son residential group 4, Bac Son residential group 1, Bac Son residential group 8, etc., have been invested in and built to be spacious, clean, and beautiful, becoming effective community activity centers. However, maximizing the effectiveness of community centers in some neighborhoods within the ward still faces many difficulties, such as dilapidated facilities, inconsistent equipment, and a lack of diverse activities that fail to attract widespread participation from residents.

In residential area 8 of Bac Son, the community center is always brightly lit every evening. Here, activities such as Party branch meetings, neighborhood group meetings, arts and sports clubs, and legal awareness campaigns are regularly and systematically organized. The community center has become a place for meeting, exchanging information, and sharing experiences, contributing to strengthening community cohesion and consensus.

Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, head of the neighborhood group, said: “We consider the community center as a hub for community cohesion, so we always focus on maintaining practical activities that meet the needs of the people. Thanks to this, movements such as building a civilized urban environment, protecting the environment, and maintaining security and order... of the neighborhood group always receive positive support from the people.”

According to a report by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, implementing the Project "Building and developing grassroots cultural and sports facilities in Thanh Hoa province until 2030," localities have focused on mobilizing and prioritizing the allocation of resources to build a system of standard grassroots cultural facilities; emphasizing the maintenance and development of activities within these facilities after completion, serving the cultural needs of the community. To date, nearly 70% of village, hamlet, and residential area cultural centers and sports complexes in the province meet the standards set by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In reality, village and neighborhood cultural centers are increasingly asserting their important role in uniting communities and fostering consensus at the grassroots level. When effectively utilized, with practical and appropriate activities, these centers become familiar destinations where people actively participate and contribute. This facilitates the smooth implementation of local movements, enhances cultural life, and contributes to building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland.
