Thus, after a week-long suspension due to heavy flooding, the Phong Chau pontoon bridge has been restored, meeting the transportation needs of people in Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts of Phu Tho province and surrounding areas across the Red River safely and conveniently.
According to Colonel Nguyen Dang Chien, the current flow rate on the Red River section passing through the Phong Chau bridge area is sufficient to reconnect the pontoon bridge to serve the people.

From 11 PM last night (June 19th), officers and soldiers completed the construction of the pontoon bridge, carried out maintenance and technical inspections; and began serving the public from 6 AM to 9 PM daily.
In late September 2024, the Phong Chau pontoon bridge was installed by Brigade 249 to serve the people of Phu Tho and surrounding areas across the Red River after the Phong Chau bridge collapsed. Every day, the pontoon bridge transports thousands of people across the river.
As reported by SGGP newspaper, a week ago, when the North experienced heavy rainfall for several days, the large volume of water flowing from upstream caused a high flow rate, making the pontoon bridge unsafe to operate. Brigade 249 temporarily dismantled the bridge and switched to using military ferries to transport people across the Red River.
