During the process of building new rural areas, in addition to focusing on investing in and upgrading infrastructure and improving people's lives, the Party Committee, government, and people of Phuong Lau commune, Viet Tri city, have made efforts to preserve and promote the beautiful traditional cultural features and maintain the soul of this ancient land.

The younger generation in the commune is preserving and spreading the local Xoan singing cultural heritage.
The first impression upon arriving in Phuong Lau commune is the harmonious blend of modern and ancient elements in its residential areas. Along with a well-built and sturdy infrastructure including roads, electricity, schools, and health stations, the spatial form, landscape, village customs, and the character of the people of this ancient land are still preserved and maintained. This is a core foundation with sustainable value and a goal that needs to be focused on in the process of building and maintaining the new rural development program.
Ms. Duong Thi Phuong, Head of Residential Area No. 4, shared: "Since the commune achieved the New Rural Area standard, we have always strived to preserve the traditional values of our village. Historical relics, traditional festivals, and folk games are maintained and promoted by the villagers. Every year on the 10th day of the first lunar month, the government and the people participate in organizing the traditional festival of Phuong An Temple and Shrine."
The Phuong An communal house is dedicated to King Hung the 18th (Hung Due Vuong) and the generals of the Hung Dynasty; the Phuong An temple is dedicated to the valiant general, Dung Manh Hau Dai Vuong. The site is associated with the traditional wrestling festival. Through these activities, community cohesion and solidarity among villagers are strengthened. People strictly adhere to the village's customs and regulations; they actively practice a new, economical, and civilized way of life...
Defining the construction of new rural areas does not mean urbanizing the countryside, but rather preserving the "soul" of the homeland. Therefore, in recent years, in addition to focusing on leading economic development and improving the lives of the people, the Party Committee and government of Phuong Lau commune have always emphasized directing the construction of a safe, healthy, and civilized rural cultural environment, with friendly people; and actively preserving the landscapes, architecture, and culture that are deeply rooted in the traditions of the homeland.
Currently, the commune has a complex of historical and cultural relics such as pagodas, communal houses, temples, and shrines. Among them, 2 relics are classified as national-level historical and cultural relics, 3 are classified as provincial-level relics, and 2 are unclassified.
Furthermore, Phuong Lau is also the birthplace of Hat Xoan, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a "Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity," associated with the An Thai Temple National historical and cultural relic; traditional wrestling associated with the Phuong An Temple-Shrine complex; and boat racing associated with the Bat Nan Dai Tuong Quan temple...

Phuong Lau commune has preserved its ancient beauty amidst social development.
The implementation of the "National Unity for Building a Culturally Rich Life" movement, linked with the new rural development program in the locality, has contributed to improving the quality of life for the people. The effective implementation of social mobilization has actively contributed to preserving, conserving, and enhancing the system of historical relics, safeguarding invaluable cultural and spiritual values for future generations.
It has become a habit for people in the villages and hamlets of the commune to regularly clean, care for, and trim the trees along the roads. Currently, many roads in the commune are planted with various flowers and trees, creating a green, clean, and beautiful environment. In addition, cultural, artistic, and sports activities in the villages and hamlets are also very vibrant.
Currently, the commune has a traditional wrestling club, a rowing club, a Xoan singing club, and Phu Tho folk songs clubs. The Xoan An Thai ward and all five residential areas of the commune have cultural and sports clubs. After school and work hours, the community center comes alive with activities for the residents: people practicing Tai Chi, playing chess, practicing folk dance, playing table tennis and volleyball; and young people playing football and badminton.
Furthermore, the local people always cherish the spirit of mutual support and solidarity, embodying the principle of "helping each other in times of need." This fosters a warm and close-knit community spirit, becoming an unwritten "village covenant" in the countryside... Through this, a rich and vibrant traditional culture of Phuong Lau is created, reflecting the unique identity of the region, alongside economic development and improvements in the material and spiritual lives of the people.
