Chieng Coi currently has more than 2,400 hectares of coffee, one of the localities with the largest coffee growing area in the province, with an output of over 23,000 tons of fresh fruit per year. These days, all over the hillsides, the coffee fields of the ward are bright red with ripe fruit, the harvest atmosphere is bustling, bustling, promising a bumper coffee crop.

Coming to Hun village, a large coffee growing area of ​​the ward, everywhere you can see the image of people urgently picking fruit. Ms. Tong Thi Hoa, while her hands were nimble, picked ripe red coffee berries, and excitedly said: My family grows 2 hectares of coffee, thanks to good care, this year the fruits are big and even, we expect to harvest about 18 tons of fresh fruit, with the current selling price of about 30,000 VND/kg. This season, my family can earn more than 500 million VND.

Mr. Tong Van Yen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell, Head of Hun Village, informed: The whole village currently has 228 households growing coffee with a total area of ​​175 hectares, this year's yield is estimated at 9-10 tons of fresh fruit/hectare. Being in the main harvest season, many households have to hire more workers to pick coffee. Coffee trees have helped people improve their lives, with average income per capita reaching over 60 million VND/year.

From Hun, Hom, Muong Yen, Ot Noi, Ot Luong villages to Hoang Van Thu village, spacious houses have sprung up next to lush coffee gardens. Many households that were once poor have now become well-off, with food and savings. Many families have built multi-story houses, bought cars, and household appliances. The lives of the people of Chieng Coi are gradually changing every day thanks to coffee trees.

In Hoang Van Thu village, on the hillsides of immense coffee trees, people are quickly picking bunches of red coffee berries, creating a bustling seasonal scene. Taking us to visit the coffee plantations in the main season, Mr. Nguyen Van Tien, Party cell secretary and village chief, excitedly shared: 100% of the households in the village grow coffee with 68 hectares, of which 7 households and cooperatives purchase and process. This year, coffee prices have increased, productivity has reached over 10 tons/ha. Thanks to growing, purchasing and processing coffee, many households in the village have an income of hundreds of millions of VND, some even reaching several billion VND/year.

Ms. Dao Thi Tham, a long-time coffee grower in Hoang Van Thu village, shared: My family has grown 3 hectares of coffee since 1996. Thanks to coffee, the economy is much more stable. This year, the price is good, with an estimated income of about 700 million VND.

The main coffee variety grown in Chieng Coi ward is Catimor.

Bich Thao Son La Coffee Cooperative, Hoang Van Thu village, is a cooperative specializing in growing and purchasing coffee on a large scale in Chieng Coi ward and the province, with high-quality coffee varieties. Currently, the cooperative has more than 60 hectares of THA1 specialty coffee grown according to organic processes, meeting export standards. In addition, the cooperative also cooperates with more than 800 households and cooperatives in the province, forming a raw material area of ​​over 1,000 hectares. This year, the cooperative has invested in increasing the capacity of the coffee bean processing and export line from 20 - 40 tons to 60 - 80 tons of coffee beans per day and night.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thao, Director of Bich Thao Son La Coffee Cooperative, said: Thanks to favorable weather, in the 2025-2026 crop year, coffee will have both a good harvest and good prices. It is expected that the Cooperative will export 2,000 - 4,000 tons of coffee beans for export at a price of 185,000 - 190,000 VND/kg; of which about 120 tons of specialty coffee will be sold, with prices ranging from 250,000 - 320,000 VND/kg. The Cooperative's production and business activities also create stable jobs for 50 - 60 seasonal workers, with an average income of over 15 million VND/person/month.

To improve the quality and value of coffee, the People's Committee of Chieng Coi Ward has directed hamlets, businesses and cooperatives to guide people in harvesting fruits according to the correct process; to strengthen propaganda and mobilize households to sign contracts with businesses and cooperatives in purchasing and consuming products. At the same time, Chieng Coi Ward coordinated with the communes and wards of Chieng Sinh, Chieng Mai, Chieng Mung and the Center for Water and Environmental Monitoring under the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate in inspecting the discharge of wastewater during coffee production and processing in the area of ​​4 communes and wards; issued documents directing agricultural processing facilities to strictly comply with regulations on environmental protection, treat waste according to technical standards; resolutely detect, prevent and handle violations in production and processing activities.

Mr. Doan Xuan Thi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chieng Coi Ward, affirmed: For many years now, coffee trees have been bringing about clear economic efficiency, helping many households to become rich. This year, the average price of fresh coffee reached 25,000 VND/kg, at times reaching up to 31,000 VND/kg. If the price remains stable until the end of the season, coffee growers will have a successful crop.

This year’s coffee season is bountiful and the prices are good, opening up new faith and hope for coffee growers in Chieng Coi. Coffee continues to affirm its position as a key crop helping people get rich right on their homeland.
