According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, to date, farmers in the province have harvested nearly 255,000 out of 266,800 hectares of 2025 summer-autumn rice, achieving over 95% of the total planting plan for the entire season. The estimated dry rice yield is 54.5 quintals/hectare, and the estimated production is 1.39 million tons.

Over the past week, the price of (fresh) rice has remained stable, specifically: IR 4625 glutinous rice from 6,700 - 7,000 VND/kg, IR 50404 rice from 5,400 - 5,500 VND/kg, Dai Thom 8 from 5,600 - 6,000 VND/kg, OM 18 from 5,600 - 6,000 VND/kg, and OM 5451 from 5,300 - 5,500 VND/kg.

Last week, pests and diseases affecting the 2025 rice crop appeared, including leaf blight (466 ha), leaf blast (295 ha), grain discoloration (81 ha), neck blast (71 ha), and brown planthopper (10 ha). These mainly appeared on rice in the heading and ripening stages, concentrated in most communes and wards in the province; particularly concentrated in communes and wards in the Thạnh Hóa, Cần Đước, Bến Lức, and Tân An areas.

For the 2025 Autumn-Winter rice crop, farmers have sown nearly 54,000 out of 65,180 hectares so far, reaching 82% of the plan. Pests such as golden apple snails (743 hectares), rice blast disease (152 hectares), rats (136 hectares), stem borers (95 hectares), and small leaf rollers (80 hectares) are mainly appearing on rice in the seedling and tillering stages, concentrated in communes in Tan Hung, Vinh Hung, Duc Hoa, and Duc Hue districts.

Forecasts indicate that the infected area of ​​rice blast, early leaf yellowing, grain discoloration, leaf blight, and rodents will decrease in the 2025 Summer-Autumn and 2025 Autumn-Winter rice crops during the heading and ripening stages. However, the infected area of ​​thrips, golden apple snails, small leaf-rolling caterpillars, rodents, and leaf blast will increase in the Autumn-Winter rice crops during the seedling and tillering stages.
