Farmers are applying digital transformation in production.

Leaders of the Vietnam National Farmers' Association visited the booth showcasing OCOP products from Thanh Hoa province in Hanoi .

To support its members and farmers in accessing knowledge and improving practical skills, and to prepare them for participation in the digital transformation process, the Provincial Farmers' Association has coordinated with departments, agencies, and units to organize training courses to equip them with knowledge and skills on digital transformation; guide and support farmers in applying digital technology to production, registering trademarks, brand names, and agricultural product protection certificates, and bringing agricultural products to e-commerce platforms. The Provincial Farmers' Association has signed a cooperation agreement with Thanh Hoa Telecommunications on digital transformation for the period 2023-2028; and coordinated with the Provincial Department of Agricultural, Forestry, and Fisheries Quality Inspection and the Provincial Post Office to organize training courses on digital transformation in promoting and selling goods, linked with the consumption of OCOP products, on bringing agricultural products to e-commerce platforms like Postmart.vn, and on livestreaming and selling on social media channels. Simultaneously, coordinate with relevant units to support trademark registration for products and goods; support training on good agricultural practices and certification (VietGAP, VietGAHP), and support with traceability labels and packaging; guide and support producers and businesses in carrying out procedures related to food hygiene and safety.

In addition, the Provincial Farmers' Association has strengthened linkages and created conditions for its members and farmers to participate in a series of events promoting trade, advertising, introducing, and connecting OCOP products and agricultural products to markets inside and outside the province. It has integrated programs and projects, building many green agricultural production models that apply high technology, are efficient, and sustainable, such as: the organic duck farming model in Ha Vinh commune (Ha Trung district); the bio-safe chicken farming model in Minh Son commune (Ngoc Lac district); and the bio-safe commercial chicken farming model in Xuan Hong commune (Tho Xuan district). It has supported the development of brands, labels, and traceability stamps for 82 products; 19,000 labels and stamps; and directly encouraged registration and guided the development of 77 new OCOP products. The various levels of the association coordinated with agencies, units, and businesses to organize 3,308 training courses on science and technology transfer for 351,060 cadres, members, and farmers; and built 52 exemplary models of high-tech agricultural production and value chain linkages.

Keeping pace with the current trends of the 4.0 era, the Farmers' Association at all levels in the province has been actively accompanying, supporting, and guiding its members and farmers in gradually applying digital technology in production. Many cooperatives have promoted the application of science and technology and digital transformation in the production process, introducing and promoting products to consumers through e-commerce platforms such as Postmart.vn, Lazada, Shopee; the supply-demand connection software nongsanantoanthanhhoa.vn; and social media platforms such as Zalo, Facebook, etc., in order to meet the new demands of customers, while also aiming to build brands and develop sustainable products.

For example, the Binh Son Agricultural and Forestry Service Cooperative (Trieu Son district) has achieved success with four OCOP products: clean tea, honey, green tea in filter bags, and thorny vine tea in filter bags. In recent times, to improve product quality and keep up with the trends of the 4.0 era market, the cooperative has actively applied science and technology to production, focusing on innovation and enhancing the aesthetics of product packaging and labels; and simultaneously aiming for digital transformation in agriculture. The cooperative has actively used social media, built a website, and participated in e-commerce platforms such as Zalo, Facebook, Shopee, and the supply-demand connection software at nongsanantoanthanhhoa.vn to introduce and promote its products to consumers nationwide. As a result, on average, the cooperative exports 2-7 quintals of various products to localities within and outside the province each month.

For example, the swiftlet farming model of Mr. Nguyen Van Tu's family in Kien Long village, Hung Loc commune (Hau Loc district), with its Thanh Swiftlet products achieving OCOP 4-star standards, has appeared in large, reputable supermarkets, shopping centers, and upscale restaurants and hotels, receiving recognition and high praise... This has significantly contributed to creating a breakthrough in productivity, quality, and competitiveness for agricultural products.

Mr. Tran Binh Quan, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, stated: “To continue effectively implementing digital transformation in agriculture and contributing to the construction of new rural areas in the province, the Provincial Farmers' Association will continue to promote awareness among members, farmers, and society about the role and importance of applying digital technology to production and business in the agricultural sector. At the same time, we will focus on training and improving the skills and capacity of farmers to access and apply digital technology in agricultural production. We will strengthen training and workshops to provide knowledge about digital transformation in agriculture to business owners, farms, members of cooperatives, and cooperative groups; build and transfer models to support members and farmers in digital transformation. We will guide members and farmers to directly participate in building big data on agriculture to make appropriate decisions on production and business directions...”
