Breaking News: Coach Mourinho has been sacked.

After more than a year managing Fenerbahce, coach Mourinho was sacked for failing to help the Turkish team qualify for the Champions League.

On the afternoon of August 29th (Vietnam time), coach Mourinho officially left his position as head coach of Fenerbahce after more than 12 months of leading the Turkish team. The decision to dismiss him came immediately after Fenerbahce's defeat to Benfica in the Champions League play-off round.

This news came as a huge surprise in the football world, because previously the Portuguese strategist was expected to revive the Turkish football giant.

However, the inability to help the team qualify for the Champions League group stage was considered the "last straw," leading to the Fenerbahce management's decision to part ways with Mourinho.

"Jose Mourinho, who took over as head coach of our professional first team from the 2024-2025 season, has officially parted ways with the club."

"We would like to thank him for his contributions to the team over the past time and wish him much success in his future career," Fenerbahce Club briefly announced on social media.

Before arriving in Türkiye, "The Special One" had already made a significant impact at AS Roma in Serie A. He helped the team win their first European title in 61 years, the Europa Conference League in 2022.

However, the joy was short-lived, as in the following season, his AS Roma team lost to Sevilla in the Europa League final after a heartbreaking penalty shootout.

After taking over as Fenerbahce's head coach in 2024, Jose Mourinho led the team to a runner-up finish in the Turkish Super League (behind champions Galatasaray). However, his time in Türkiye wasn't entirely smooth, as Fenerbahce were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Turkish Cup and lost to Rangers in the round of 16 of the Europa League.

Mourinho's coaching career, spanning over two decades, is marked by 26 major and minor titles.

He won the Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan. He also won the Premier League and La Liga titles with Chelsea and Real Madrid.
