Born in 1938 in Dong Thap , People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi graduated from the Saigon National Teacher Training College but dedicated his entire life to traditional Vietnamese opera. With his profound knowledge of classical Chinese and classical literature, in 1969 he became the head of the opera class at the Saigon National School of Music and Drama. In 1971, he founded the Dinh Bang Phi Opera Troupe, spreading the fame of plays such as "Trung Nu Vuong" and "Giang Ta Cau Hon" throughout the six provinces of Vietnam.

With over half a century of dedication, he left behind a vast legacy with more than 30 exemplary roles and a series of nationally awarded scripts such as "Tran Binh Trong's Suicide," "The Arm of Vuong Ta," and "The Courage of Dang Dai Do" ... He was also a persistent researcher, diligently collecting and perfecting classic plays such as "Tu Linh Hoi" and "Luu Kim Dinh "... The combination of pedagogical thinking and artistic soul helped him bring traditional Vietnamese opera closer to the younger generation through his passionate lectures.

In recognition of these significant contributions, the State awarded him the title of Meritorious Artist in 1993 and People's Artist in 2002.
The memorial service for People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi took place from the afternoon of December 25th at Bao Long Pagoda (formerly Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City). The funeral procession was held on the morning of December 28th, after which the artist was buried at Binh Duong Cemetery.
