During the film premiere on the afternoon of April 23 in Ho Chi Minh City, Dinh Ngoc Diep, director Victor Vu and the film's cast had moments of sharing their feelings.
In addition to her role as producer, Dinh Ngoc Diep also plays the character Hai Man in the film. She said: "I am worried that myself and Mr. Quoc Huy may not be attractive enough to attract audiences to the cinema like the young faces. I am also wondering whether the film can break even, especially when this year's holiday season has many great and excellent works competing. I am also worried that the cinema complexes will not reserve enough screenings for the film. This project really makes me feel many worries."
Although the film has scenes of Hai Man being affectionate with detective Kien, Dinh Ngoc Diep said that they did not "stir up a couple" to attract the audience.
"Controversies may arise, but Victor Vu has never thought of using PR or Marketing to manipulate the audience's emotions. We don't need to "pair up" or create tricks to promote the film. To me, doing so is no different than deceiving the audience" - Dinh Ngoc Diep said.
Director Victor Vu said he has cherished bringing the audience a unique historical detective story, possibly the first work of this genre in Vietnam. This is a dream he has pursued for a long time. If the audience continues to love it, he is very excited to expand the journey of this character in the future.
"I did not set a specific revenue target from the beginning. What I care about most is whether the audience can feel the message and emotions that I want to convey through the film. The success of a film, for me, does not lie in the numbers but in whether it leaves a deep impression on the audience. From there, I will consider whether the next script is worthy of opening a new chapter for this story" - director Victor Vu shared.
In particular, People's Artist My Uyen - who plays Mrs. Vuong in the film - is predicted to be the surprise factor. According to the female artist, although she really wants to promote her role, director Victor Vu always wants to "hide her role" to surprise the audience.
According to artist My Uyen, the role of Mrs. Vuong, although a supporting role, appears throughout the film and plays an important role in the plot. This is also a very special role that made the female artist struggle and work hard to get into character.
"Detective Kien: The Headless Case" is a spiritual - thriller - crime-solving film. The cast includes: Quoc Huy as Detective Kien, Dinh Ngoc Diep as Hai Man, Quoc Anh as Thac, Anh Pham as Tuyet and Minh Anh as Nga, Meritorious Artist Xuan Trang as Quan Liem, People's Artist My Uyen as Ba Vuong (Quan Liem's wife).
The film officially opens in theaters from April 30 and has special screenings from 6 p.m. on April 25, all day from April 26 to April 27.
