During the film's premiere and Q&A session on the afternoon of April 23rd in Ho Chi Minh City, Dinh Ngoc Diep, along with director Victor Vu and the cast, shared heartfelt moments.
Besides her role as producer, Dinh Ngoc Diep also plays the character Hai Man in the film. She said: "I'm worried that I and Quoc Huy might not have enough appeal to attract audiences to the theaters like younger actors. I'm also concerned about whether the film can break even, especially with so many big and excellent films competing during this year's holiday season. I'm also worried that theaters won't allocate enough screening slots for the film. This project truly fills me with many mixed feelings."
Although the film features romantic scenes between Hai Mẫn and detective Kiên, Đinh Ngọc Diệp stated that she did not "force a couple" (pair them up) to attract viewers.
"Controversies may arise, but Victor Vũ never considered using PR or marketing to manipulate audience emotions. We don't need to 'pair up' or create gimmicks to promote the film. To me, doing so would be like deceiving the audience," said Đinh Ngọc Diệp.
Director Victor Vũ stated that he has long harbored the dream of bringing audiences a unique historical detective story, possibly the first of its kind in Vietnam. This is a dream he has pursued for a long time. If audiences continue to love it, he is excited to expand the character's journey in the future.
"I didn't set a specific revenue target from the beginning. What I cared most about was whether the audience could feel the message and emotions I wanted to convey through the film. For me, the success of a film doesn't lie in the numbers, but in whether it leaves a deep impression on the viewers. From there, I will consider whether the next script is worthy of opening a new chapter for this story," director Victor Vũ shared.
In particular, People's Artist My Uyen, who plays Mrs. Vuong in the film, is predicted to be a surprise element. According to the actress, although she really wanted to promote her role, director Victor Vu always wanted to "keep her role a secret" to create a surprise for the audience.
According to actress My Uyen, although Mrs. Vuong is a supporting role, she appears throughout the film and plays a crucial part in the plot. This is also a rather special role that required a lot of effort and struggle for the actress to embody.
"Detective Kien: The Headless Case" is a supernatural thriller/mystery crime-solving film. The cast includes: Quoc Huy as Detective Kien, Dinh Ngoc Diep as Hai Man, Quoc Anh as Thac, Anh Pham as Tuyet, and Minh Anh as Nga, Meritorious Artist Xuan Trang as Quan Liem, and People's Artist My Uyen as Mrs. Vuong (Quan Liem's wife).
The film officially premiered in theaters on April 30th and had special screenings from 6 PM on April 25th, and throughout April 26th and 27th.
