Chinese-language media reported on June 4th the passing of Duan Yu. According to the reports, she died after 25 days in a coma in the hospital due to a brain hemorrhage.
Duan Yu passed away at the age of 48.
On June 3rd, the singer's family posted an obituary, stating that she passed away on June 1st and that the funeral would be held at the Lac Binh City Funeral Home on June 4th.
According to her family's earlier announcement, Duan Yu suffered a severe headache on the afternoon of May 8th while she was live streaming. She was taken to a local hospital where doctors diagnosed her with a brain hemorrhage. Due to her worsening condition, she was transferred to a hospital in Nanchang for treatment.
The singer was in a coma from the time she was hospitalized until her death, without having had the chance to leave a will. Many colleagues and fans expressed their condolences upon hearing the news of her passing.
Duan Yu, whose real name is Duan Xuehe, is a popular online singer in China. She is a single mother raising three children.
She works hard as a host and online singer. She live streams twice a day. When she's feeling productive, she even live streams three times a day, attracting tens of thousands of viewers each time.
