With numerous positive contributions to the development of the women's association movement, supporting women's economic development, and caring for the lives of the people, she has become a trusted pillar of support for many members and local residents.
Get close to the people to understand and help them.
In 1999, Ms. Hong was elected by the people as the Head of the Women's Association of Hamlet 9, Loc Tan Commune. In 2005, she became the Head of the Women's Association of Thanh Trung Hamlet, Loc Thanh Commune, and from 2012 until now, she has held the position of Head of the Women's Association of Thanh Phu Hamlet.
In addition to her work with the association, Ms. Hong has also been entrusted with many other important responsibilities such as: Head of the hamlet, Head of the Loan Group in Thanh Phu hamlet... Regardless of her position, she always strives to complete her assigned tasks well, setting a good example and leading the way in emulation movements and campaigns launched by the locality; at the same time, actively propagating and mobilizing people to comply with the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws.
Thạnh Phú hamlet currently has over 205 households with more than 893 inhabitants, of which about 50% are ethnic minorities. The people's lives mainly depend on agricultural production, livestock farming, and seasonal labor. This area also borders Cambodia, so socio-economic development still faces certain difficulties.
In the early days of her assignment in Thanh Phu, Ms. Hong faced numerous challenges. At that time, the number of women's association members was only over 60; the lives of the people were still difficult, and their understanding of the law was uneven. Undeterred, she always strived to find ways to build a strong and thriving women's association.
Every day, Ms. Hong spends a lot of time going down to each residential area to understand and grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the people. She patiently goes "from street to street, knocking on every door" to explain to women their rights and obligations when participating in the association; at the same time, she disseminates information about policies and guidelines related to women and children.
Through persistent and flexible efforts, following the principle of "slow and steady wins the race," Ms. Hong's approach has led to a steady increase in the number of members participating in the association's activities. Currently, the Thạnh Phú Hamlet Women's Association has 125 members who regularly participate. Not only has the number of members increased, but the quality of the association's activities has also gradually improved. Meetings are organized in an orderly manner and according to regulations. Members actively participate in emulation movements such as the "Building a Family with 5 No's and 3 Cleanliness Standards" campaign, the "Building the Modern Vietnamese Woman" movement, and many other activities initiated by the local authorities.

Women are embracing technology.Through flexible and innovative approaches, women's associations at all levels in the province are implementing many practical models to enhance the digital capacity of their members. This helps women confidently apply technology to production and business, contributing to increased income and adaptation to the trend of digital transformation. "Thanks to the close coordination between the branch and relevant departments and agencies, and the support from higher levels, every year, 100% of members register to participate in emulation movements; the percentage of members meeting the criteria for year-end evaluation is always high," Ms. Hong shared.
Helping members improve their lives and achieve stability.
According to Ms. Hong, for the women's association movement to develop sustainably, it must be linked to practical care for the lives of its members. Therefore, for many years, she has always been concerned about finding ways to support women in developing their family economies. One of the solutions she has effectively implemented is creating an environment for women to meet, share business experiences, and support each other in life. Through these meetings, many members have confidently exchanged production models, livestock farming methods, and crop cultivation techniques suitable to local conditions.
In particular, as the head of the Loan Group, Ms. Hong actively acts as a bridge to help members access preferential loans from the Social Policy Bank. To date, approximately 100 households in the area have received loans totaling over 3.2 billion VND to invest in economic development. Many families have been able to expand production and livestock farming, gradually increasing their income and stabilizing their lives. Many previously disadvantaged households have now risen out of poverty sustainably.
For her contributions to the community, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hong has received numerous awards from various levels. Specifically, the People's Committee of Loc Ninh District (formerly) awarded her a certificate of merit for "outstanding achievements in studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh in 2021." The Women's Union of Loc Thanh Commune awarded her a certificate of merit for "excellently completing the tasks of the Women's Union and women's movement in 2025"... Currently, the locality has submitted a dossier requesting the higher authorities to consider awarding her the Commemorative Medal for the Development of Vietnamese Women.
For many years, the Women's Association of Thanh Phu hamlet has effectively maintained the following models: Piggy Bank Savings and Charity Rice Jar. These models are implemented entirely on a voluntary basis, stemming from the mutual support and compassion of the members. Whenever a community meeting or association activity is held, depending on their means, people can contribute money or rice. The money saved from the Piggy Bank Savings model is used to support poor members with capital to buy livestock and develop production; while the rice from the Charity Rice Jar is given to households in particularly difficult circumstances.
“To date, through the 'Piggy Bank Savings' model, the branch has created 4 savings accounts (each worth 2 million VND) to donate to poor members. At the same time, we have mobilized resources to create 8 rice jars with a total of 370kg of rice to support 24 needy cases,” Ms. Hong said.
Not stopping there, Ms. Hong actively connects with agencies, organizations, and philanthropists to provide livelihoods for poor women. Recently, five members received livelihood support totaling 50 million VND to develop livestock farming. Two other members received 20 million VND in startup capital to raise chickens and grow fruit trees. Furthermore, during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), she collaborates with organizations and individuals to mobilize resources to give gifts to disadvantaged households, helping them celebrate the holidays more warmly.
Simultaneously, Ms. Hong has always been concerned with raising legal awareness among the people. The awareness campaigns focus on practical issues such as: preventing and combating domestic violence; preventing and combating child marriage; traffic safety; drug prevention; being vigilant against online scams and the "easy job, high pay" trick… Thanks to regular awareness campaigns using various appropriate methods, people's legal awareness has steadily improved, contributing to maintaining security and order in the locality.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Loc Thanh commune and Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Loc Thanh commune, commented: "Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hong is a dedicated and responsible Women's Union official who always completes her assigned tasks well. With her advantage of understanding the customs and traditions of the ethnic minorities in the area, she is always close to and understands the thoughts and aspirations of the members, providing timely support and assistance. Over the years, leaders at all levels have repeatedly commended and rewarded Ms. Hong. This is a well-deserved recognition for the persistent contributions of this grassroots official who has dedicated nearly three decades to the women's movement and mass mobilization work in the locality."
Sharing her important tasks for the coming period, Ms. Hong said: “I will continue to work with the Women's Association and the Thạnh Phú Hamlet Management Board to promote the dissemination of information and encourage people to comply with the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws; actively participate in environmental protection and building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful residential area. At the same time, I will continue to support female members in developing family economies, building happy families, and contributing to making the locality increasingly civilized, modern, and livable.”
