Hanoi – A 6th-grade female student from Kien Hung Secondary School in Ha Dong district was punched in the face by an 8th-grade student from the same school, causing her to bleed.
On the evening of January 26th, Ms. Van, the mother of the student who was assaulted, stated that the incident occurred that afternoon. According to Ms. Van, her daughter had a conflict with a classmate, so at the end of the school day, the classmate called her older sister, who is in 8th grade at the same school, to come to the classroom and assault her.
When picking up their child from school, Ms. Van's husband noticed blood on their child's face. The couple immediately took their child to the Kien Hung Ward police station to report the incident. Ms. Van believes the scratches and bleeding on her child's face were caused by a classmate using a utility knife to cut the child's face.
The mother said this wasn't the first time her child had been hit by a classmate, but in previous instances, she had mediated because she thought the children were just being overly mischievous. This time, the child was in pain and crying a lot, so she kept her child home from school this morning.
Ms. Vân's post on social media last night received thousands of interactions. Many people were outraged by the student's behavior.
In a video lasting over 40 seconds documenting the incident, Ms. Van's child is seen being hit and slapped by an 8th-grade female student, mainly on the head and face. Later, another female student in a black shirt joins the assault, ganging up on the victim. Many other students stand around watching, shouting, and using foul language.

Speaking to VnExpress on the morning of January 27, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bach Loan, principal of Kien Hung Secondary School, confirmed that the incident occurred after yesterday afternoon's classes at the school. However, she affirmed that the 8th-grade student did not use a utility knife when hitting Ms. Van's child.
"During the altercation, the 8th-grade girl scratched the 6th-grade girl's face. The students involved and the victim have reported this to the police," Ms. Loan said, suggesting that the parents may have been confused due to their anger at seeing their child being beaten.
This morning, authorities are continuing their investigation, and the school will also visit the student's home to offer support.
According to Ms. Loan, the cause of the conflict is still being investigated, so the school has not yet taken any disciplinary action. The students attended school as usual today.
"As soon as we receive the police's conclusion, we will handle the matter strictly according to regulations. This is an unfortunate incident. We feel we have a responsibility to educate our students better, so that they know they can be safe at school," Ms. Loan said.
