(NLĐO) - Initial findings indicate the female driver showed signs of abnormal psychological behavior, suspected to be influenced by relationship and family issues.

On March 16th, Ho Chi Minh City police continued investigating the cause of the incident in which a female driver in a Mercedes crashed into 10 motorbikes in Thu Duc.

According to the investigation, at over 5 PM on the same day, female driver NTTN (41 years old, residing in Thu Duc City) was driving a Mercedes car on Vo Nguyen Giap road, heading from Thu Duc City to Dong Nai province. When the car reached the Thu Duc intersection, it slowed down due to the red light, but suddenly sped forward and crashed into a series of motorbikes that were stopped waiting ahead.

The car continued across the intersection, dragging a motorbike under its chassis before coming to a stop. According to witnesses, the female driver then got out of the car and burst into tears.

The collision sent the couple, DTNL (40 years old, construction workers) and her husband, flying onto the car's hood, causing spinal injuries.

Several other people were also injured, including a 28-year-old woman who was seriously injured and taken to Cho Ray Hospital for emergency treatment.

Initially, authorities determined that the female driver, N., had driven her car on the wrong side of the road (a lane designated for motorcycles, prohibited for cars) and caused the accident. However, the driver possessed a Class B2 driver's license.

In addition, the female driver was observed to have signs of abnormal psychological behavior, possibly influenced by relationship or family issues.

Through alcohol and drug testing, the quantitative breathalyzer results showed that female driver N. had alcohol in her system.

Authorities are currently taking blood samples to check alcohol levels and investigating the cause of death.
