Dr. Hoang Thi Hong Trang (32 years old), a lecturer in the Russian Language Department at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, has just been awarded the "Outstanding Young Teacher" award of Ho Chi Minh City 2024 by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union.
"I feel happy and proud to receive this award for two consecutive years. It motivates me to continue dedicating myself to the field of education . It is also a gift of gratitude I want to give to my teachers, who have guided me on my journey of nurturing future generations," the female doctor shared.

"By some twist of fate, I chose to study at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. It was there that I met my 'first teacher' (Ms. Tran Thi Que, a former lecturer at the university - PV). She taught me my first Russian letters. She ignited in me a passion for teaching. Her dedication and responsibility nurtured my soul, helping me envision a future dedicated to the teaching profession," Ms. Trang recalled. However, after graduating from university (as the valedictorian of the Russian-English bilingual education program), Ms. Trang admitted that she faced the harsh reality of the financial burden and had to temporarily put aside her dream of becoming a teacher. "I decided to apply for a scholarship to study for my doctorate in Russia. It was like an escape from the pressures of life. In that foreign land, I was fortunate to meet my 'second teacher' (Ms. Starikova Galina Nikolaevna, former lecturer at Tomsk National Research University, Russia - ed.), who was my supervisor. She not only imparted knowledge but also cared for me in every moment of my life," the female doctor continued. "When I successfully defended my doctoral thesis, she asked me how I planned to start my career. Then she shared some very profound teachings that I still remember vividly to this day: that no matter how much knowledge you accumulate, if you don't pass it on, it will gradually fade away. The mission of a researcher is not only to discover new things but also to pass on knowledge to future generations. Teaching is the profession that best fulfills that mission. Those teachings inspired me greatly, helping me realize the true beauty and meaning of teaching," Ms. Trang confided. And so Ms. Trang decided to return to Vietnam, back to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, to continue her journey of spreading love and knowledge to future generations. "The teaching profession gives me a sense of fulfillment and meaning in life. It's not just about imparting knowledge, but also an opportunity to create positive influences on students' lives, contributing to building the country of the future," Ms. Trang said, adding: "There's a saying: 'A doctor's mistake will cost a life. But a teacher's mistake will ruin an entire generation.' Every time I see students progress, overcome difficulties, and achieve success, I feel like I've contributed a small part to their journey. Furthermore, teaching also gives me the opportunity to relive my student days, to be a successor to the teachers who gave me the chance to access knowledge." According to Ms. Trang, becoming a good teacher requires many factors: solid professional knowledge, regular updating of knowledge, and honing pedagogical skills. In addition, a love for the profession, patience, and the ability to listen are also indispensable. Finally, flexibility and the ability to adapt to changes in education will help teachers develop sustainably in their careers…
