As of December 11, 2025: The crushed stone base section of the Huu Nghi Border Gate-Chi Lang expressway project has been completed for 45 out of 60 km. The first layer of asphalt concrete paving has been completed for 10 out of 60 km. The contractor is currently constructing 36 out of 38 bridge locations on the route. |
In mid-December, we surveyed the highway section from Km0 to Km45, and the construction atmosphere was very busy. On the EC03 contract site, the section from Km44+900 to Km45+130, managed by Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company 559, hundreds of workers were busily constructing various components. The company had deployed multiple construction teams, mobilizing more than 250 pieces of equipment and 500 personnel to organize production.
Mr. Vu Xuan Huy, Director of the Project Management Board of Investment Joint Stock Company 559, said: "Following the directives of the Prime Minister and the People's Committee of Lang Son province regarding the opening of the road on December 19th, we simultaneously organized 10 construction teams, mobilizing maximum manpower and equipment. Our workers worked day and night, overcoming weather difficulties, determined to complete the road opening on schedule."
That sense of urgency is also spreading in the area at the beginning of the route, the section from Km0 to Km6 in Dong Dang commune, which is being undertaken by Company 568.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Commander of 568 Joint Stock Company, said: "We mobilized 8 construction teams. In total, there are 40 excavators and more than 130 pieces of equipment working continuously. The workers are divided into shifts, working 24/7 according to the principle of 'finishing each section before moving on.' To date, the construction volume has reached approximately 85%, ensuring the planned progress."
On the branch line connecting to the Tan Thanh and Coc Nam border gates, construction work on the roadbed and surface is also proceeding very urgently.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Deputy Commander of Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company 299 - the unit responsible for constructing the branch line connecting Coc Nam and Tan Thanh border gates - said: Currently, the contractor is focusing on mobilizing 120 pieces of equipment and vehicles and organizing 4 construction teams to complete the roadbed and lay the first layer of asphalt concrete. The goal is to complete the first layer of asphalt concrete from Km 6 to Km 13 of the Tan Thanh - Coc Nam section before December 19th.
According to updated figures, contractors have mobilized 147 construction teams with nearly 3,000 personnel and 1,300 pieces of equipment and vehicles to carry out construction along the entire route.
Mr. Truong Duc Lien, Deputy General Director of Huu Nghi - Chi Lang Expressway Joint Stock Company, said: "We instructed the contractors to work 3 shifts, 4 teams. To date, the value of work completed on the project has reached 3,900/4,572 billion VND, equivalent to 85.3% of the total volume."
The Huu Nghi Border Gate – Chi Lang expressway project has a total length of nearly 60 km, including a 43 km main section with 4 lanes and a 17 km section from Tan Thanh to Coc Nam. The total investment for the project is over 11,000 billion VND, of which approximately 5,500 billion VND comes from the state budget, and the remainder is from investors under a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) contract.
This is a key national project, expected to fully connect the Eastern North-South Expressway, shortening travel time from Hanoi to Huu Nghi border gate to just over 2 hours, and opening up new development opportunities for Lang Son province and the northern border region.
Currently, the intensity on the construction site is increasing day by day. From the workers who are holding out in the cold winds of the year-end to the engineers and technical staff on standby – everyone is working towards a common goal: completing the project on time, ensuring quality, and maintaining absolute safety.
Mr. Bui Hoang Nam, Director of the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board (the unit assigned as the competent state agency to carry out some project management tasks for the Huu Nghi-Chi Lang border gate expressway), said: In addition to the task of urging the completion of project parts to serve the opening ceremony in accordance with the Prime Minister 's directive, the board also focuses on inspecting and supervising the quality of the construction, ensuring that quality is not neglected for the sake of deadlines.
On the newly laid roadbed, vibrating rollers diligently compact each meter of the roadbed. In the distance, a line of trucks carrying materials transports crushed stone and batches of asphalt concrete to complete the road surface. The headlights piercing the night sky on the construction site further accentuate the competitive spirit and determination to complete this key strategic project, opening a new "door to development" for the border region of Lang Son.
