O Lam commune was established by merging three communes: O Lam, An Tuc, and Luong Phi. According to Mai Thi The, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of O Lam commune: “The Party Committee has established new Party Committees for Party agencies, the People's Committee, the Public Security Department , and 34 grassroots Party branches, with 621 Party members. The assignment of tasks to Party committee members is clearly defined, matching their abilities and strengths, ensuring the fulfillment of each member's role and responsibility. Party activities are directed towards innovation in content and form; linking thematic activities with the local political tasks. Party branches hold regular meetings simultaneously on the 3rd of each month as stipulated by the Central Committee, avoiding formality or interruption.”
Along with its subordinate Party branches and committees, the Party Committee of the People's Committee of O Lam Commune officially commenced operations on July 1, 2025. Immediately after its establishment, the Party Committee quickly streamlined its organization, assigned tasks, issued working regulations, and stabilized its operational routines. According to Phan Thanh Luong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the People's Committee of O Lam Commune, the Party Committee focuses on leading and directing the comprehensive implementation of socio -economic development tasks. By 2025, the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate is projected to reach 3.5%; the total value of production across the entire economy is expected to exceed 1,108 billion VND; and per capita income is projected to reach 58.92 million VND per year.
Poverty reduction efforts have been carried out vigorously, with the poverty rate decreasing by 2.07% compared to 2024. In particular, the implementation of national target programs, especially the program for the development of ethnic minority areas, has yielded positive results, with the disbursement rate of public investment capital reaching 93.8%. These figures demonstrate the close leadership and guidance of the Party Committee in carrying out political tasks at the local level.
Stemming from the local reality of a large Khmer population, the Party Committee of O Lam commune has always focused on leading socio-economic development, sustainable poverty reduction, and effectively carrying out mass mobilization work. Party branches and committees have intensified propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people to participate in economic development, rural development, forest protection, and actively participate in social welfare activities. In 2025, the commune's political system mobilized over 500 million VND to build 10 houses for poor and disadvantaged households. Cadres and people in the commune also donated over 157 million VND to support people in Central and Central Highlands regions in overcoming the consequences of floods, demonstrating a spirit of mutual assistance.
According to Ms. Mai Thi The, in 2026, along with leading socio-economic development, the Party Committee of O Lam commune will continue to improve the quality of Party building and organization work, and innovate leadership methods. The commune will focus on building a team of cadres and Party members with strong political convictions and good moral character, meeting the requirements of the tasks in the new period.
