Veteran Le Huy Tha from Hung Yen province is reading a book about the Great Victory of Spring 1975.
On the very first day the book exhibition opened to the public, the Can Tho City Library welcomed a special guest. It was Mr. Le Huy Tha, a veteran from Van Giang district, Hung Yen province, who was visiting Can Tho and, upon hearing about the exhibition, stopped by to read some books. Mr. Tha said that as a soldier who had experienced the fires of war, he always understood the value of the nation's glorious history, and that the exhibition, as organized by the Can Tho City Library, was a way to "pass on the flame" to the younger generation. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of the country, he wanted to embark on a journey from North to South, revisiting old battlefields to experience the changes and beauty of his homeland. Looking at the young people visiting the book exhibition, Mr. Le Huy Tha suddenly mentioned the book "Vu Xuan's Diary" by Martyr and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Vu Xuan, which contains a sentence that he particularly cherishes: "I only want one sentence to resonate in the ears of future generations: Do not tarnish the blood of those who came before!" And then Mr. Le Huy Tha concluded: "Exhibitions like this are very necessary; reading each page of the book adds to our pride in our national traditions!"
Indeed, these days, many groups of students are visiting the book exhibition. Everyone is attentively examining each page, pointing out books about their homeland and the great achievements of their ancestors. Some even take out paper and write down the book titles and library codes to borrow them later. Huynh Dien Tran, a literature student at Can Tho University, said: “The books at this exhibition are very diverse and focused on specific themes, making them easy to read and understand. These are valuable resources that support my studies and research. Reading these books, I feel proud of the generations of our ancestors who spared no blood, sweat, and sacrifice so that the country could achieve peace and unity.”
