Stable, rice prices have not fluctuated much.

Today, June 30th, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region remain stable for both paddy and milled rice. The rice market is slow, with prices slightly lower.

The rice market in localities across the Mekong Delta today generally remains tight, transactions are slow, and quality is poor. Specifically, in Sa Dec ( Dong Thap ), rice supply is low, rice quality has not improved, warehouses are slow to purchase, prices fluctuate slightly, and buyers are being very selective. In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang), rice supply is low, prices have dropped slightly for good quality rice, and newly harvested rice has fallen by 100 dong. In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), rice supply is moderate, transactions are slow, rice quality is poor, there are few good quality lots, and warehouses are slow to purchase.

According to an update from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, rice prices today remain stable compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of IR 504 raw rice is 10,700 - 10,850 VND/kg; and the price of finished IR 504 rice is 12,600 - 12,900 VND/kg.

Similarly, the price of by-products today remains unchanged compared to yesterday. Currently, the price of IR 504 rice bran is unchanged from yesterday at 9,100 - 9,300 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the price of dry rice bran remains stable at 7,000 - 7,100 VND/kg.

At retail markets, rice prices remain unchanged. Currently, Nang Nhen rice is listed at the highest price of 30,000 VND/kg; Jasmine rice at 18,000 - 20,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice at 20,000 VND/kg; regular white rice fluctuating around 15,000 - 16,000 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice at 20,000 - 21,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice at 20,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice at 21,000 VND/kg; common white rice at 17,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice at 18,500 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice at 20,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice at 22,000 VND/kg.

Regarding rice, in Dong Thap province, prices remained stable over the weekend, with few new rice transactions. In Can Tho, transactions were stable, mainly involving harvested rice, with few new transactions. In Kien Giang, transactions were slow, with few traders buying new rice, and rice awaiting harvesting.

Specifically, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the price of Dai Thom 8 rice fluctuates around 7,200 - 7,400 VND/kg; OM 18 rice is at 7,200 - 7,400 VND/kg; IR 504 at 7,000 - 7,200 VND/kg; OM 5451 at 6,900 - 7,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 rice fluctuates around 7,600 - 7,700 VND/kg; and OM 380 rice is at 6,800 - 7,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, the glutinous rice market remained unchanged compared to yesterday. The price of 3-month-old glutinous rice (dry) remained stable at 8,800 VND/kg to 9,000 VND/kg. Additionally, the price for Long An glutinous rice (dry) was 9,000 - 9,200 VND/kg. On the other hand, the prices of 3-month-old glutinous rice (fresh) and Long An glutinous rice (fresh) remained stable today.

On the export market, Vietnamese rice export prices remain unchanged. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 100% broken rice is stable at US$468/ton; standard 5% broken rice is currently at US$569/ton; and 25% broken rice is stable at US$544/ton.

According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first six months of this year, Vietnam sold 4.68 million tons of various types of rice, earning $2.98 billion. Compared to the same period in 2023, rice exports increased by only 10.4% in volume but surged by 32% in value due to the high export price of this commodity.

In the first half of this year, rice ranked fifth in terms of export value in the agricultural sector (after wood and wood products, seafood, fruits and vegetables, and coffee), and was also one of the items recording high growth rates.

The report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also stated that rice is among the top 5 agricultural products with a high trade surplus, reaching $2.31 billion, a 27% increase compared to the same period last year. Thus, in the first half of this year alone, Vietnam spent approximately $670 million to import rice.
