Pep Guardiola has dismissed speculation that he is ready to end his nearly decade-long stint with Manchester City next summer. The 54-year-old, who has 18 months remaining on his current contract, insists he remains motivated to continue his work.

“I am happy here and I want to stay,” Guardiola said. “When I feel that everything is done, when I can no longer get more out of the players or no longer envision ways to make the team better, then I will stop. But for now, I still have that feeling.”

Guardiola emphasized that his motivation doesn't come from winning titles. "Of course I want to win the Premier League and the Champions League, but that's not what wakes me up every morning. What excites me is the process, the journey to do better. I see room for improvement, and that's what I enjoy," Pep said.

According to Guardiola, the positive signs in recent times have further strengthened his desire to continue his commitment. “Things have been much better this past month. That makes me happy,” he shared.

Previously, public opinion had questioned Guardiola's future, with several names mentioned as potential successors. Enzo Maresca, the current Chelsea manager, was Guardiola's assistant during the season when Man City won the treble. Xabi Alonso was also reportedly attracting interest from the club's management, while Vincent Kompany was impressing as Bayern Munich's head coach.

Guardiola admitted that during his most recent contract renewal, he considered leaving Man City after a series of poor results. However, his current feelings are positive. "My feeling right now is that I still want to continue with the players, for as long as possible," Guardiola emphasized.

He also confirmed that there had been no private discussions with football director Hugo Viana about his future. “We meet every day, we have coffee together every day,” Guardiola shared, emphasizing that the club must always be prepared for any scenario, although he is not currently thinking about leaving.
