Mount will not be put up for sale. |
According to the Manchester Evening News , Mason Mount is not on Manchester United's list of players to be sold in the 2025 summer transfer window. The former Chelsea midfielder is considered a good fit for manager Ruben Amorim's philosophy and the Portuguese coach has guaranteed his future in his long-term plans at Old Trafford.
Mount, having just returned after more than three months recovering from injury, has brought renewed hope. The former Chelsea star has been present in training for the past three weeks and was brought on in the match against Forest – his first game since December 15th.
Although Mount was initially recruited to play as a midfielder in Erik ten Hag's 4-2-3-1 formation, the reality is that the number 10 or wide midfielder role in Amorim's 3-4-2-1 system is a more suitable position for him. Ten Hag himself realized his mistake and deployed Mount as an attacking midfielder against Brighton in August, but injury disrupted all plans.
Amorim understood that perfectly. After the match, he frankly commented on his 26-year-old pupil: "If you look at Mount's career, he's played in this system a lot, especially at Chelsea - on the left, on the right. This position suits him very well."
While Mount's future is secure, MU fans have identified a name certain to leave this summer: Christian Eriksen. The veteran Danish player will not be offered a contract extension and is being linked with a return to Ajax.
