The AIMO for the 2025-2026 school year, for students from grades 2 to 12, will be implemented through a four-level integrated learning path, ensuring both broad opportunities for participation and the selection of outstanding individuals.
The process begins with an online preliminary round on AIMO Vietnam's technology platform, taking place nationwide from November to December 2025, divided into three testing phases.
Each candidate is allowed one exam session. The application of online technology helps AIMO eliminate geographical barriers, creating equal opportunities for all students across the country to access internationally standardized exams.
High-scoring contestants will be selected to advance to the Regional Round, which will be held in March 2026 in three regions (North, Central, and South) in a face-to-face format. This stage tests problem-solving abilities, exam-taking etiquette, paper-based test-taking skills, and concentration – all crucial elements for national and international competitions.
The results of this round will determine the outstanding representatives who will participate in the national finals.
The national finals are scheduled to take place before April 20, 2026, with the exam entirely in English. This is also where the best contestants of the season will be honored, and the team representing Vietnam in the international finals will be selected.
The assessment process is conducted using two methods. For the online preliminary round, the system allows for the processing of a large volume of test papers in a short time, while also providing reference metrics for parents and schools to monitor the progress of the candidates.
In the live rounds, contestants complete their exams on paper, and the papers are graded according to a detailed, multi-tiered international Olympic scoring system, ensuring objectivity and transparency.
The ultimate goal of this journey is the AIMO 2026 International Finals, to be held from August 1-5, 2026. The venue will be announced by the AIMO International Organization. Participants will take the exam on paper, with questions in English.
Detailed information regarding the rules, exam schedule, and results will be publicly announced on the official website: https://aimo.tienphong.vn.
The AIMO (Asia International Mathematical Olympiad) was founded by the Asian Mathematical Olympiad Committee in 2012. Each year, over 150,000 students participate. Vietnam has participated in AIMO since 2019 and has won more than 220 international medals. In 2025 alone, Vietnam achieved its best performance ever with 1 championship title, 10 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals.
