
The Muong cultural preservation and promotion club of Ngoc Son commune exchanged folk singing with other clubs in the space of the Dinh Bang festival.
Following the administrative reorganization, Ngoc Son commune, a mountainous area, has a population of over 9,000 people, with many ethnic groups living together, of which the Muong ethnic group accounts for 98%. It is known for its rich ethnic culture with many long-standing customs and traditions passed down through generations, such as Muong shamanism, Thuong Rang - Bo Meng folk singing, and Muong gong performances.
Along with its long and rich history, the Muong ethnic community preserves many outstanding cultural values: the Dinh Bang Festival; the Opening Ceremony of the Village Guardian Temple in Boi hamlet; their language, costumes, cuisine , and folk art. The abundant system of historical and cultural relics, religious sites, and scenic landscapes provides favorable conditions for preserving and promoting cultural identity in conjunction with tourism development.
According to statistics, the area has 16 cultural centers; 16 performing arts groups; and 2 clubs for preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Muong ethnic group, managed by the commune People's Committee. Cultural and sports activities take place regularly, serving as a foundation for preserving and promoting the traditional cultural identity of the homeland, creating richness and diversity in traditional culture.
Comrade Vu Quoc Tam - Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, said: In recent years, cadres and people of all ethnic groups in the commune have always united to successfully implement the assigned socio-economic targets. Political security and social order are ensured, and the people's lives are increasingly improved. Cultural and sports activities are always given attention, serving as both a driving force and a goal for social development.
Along with preserving many traditional cultural heritage values, the locality is paying attention to effectively implementing the Project on Preserving and Promoting the Typical Intangible Cultural Values of Ethnic Groups in the Province, giai đoạn 2018 - 2030. Activities include: Research, collection, and preservation of the art of Thuong Rang - Bo Meng singing and Dum singing of the Muong ethnic group; establishing the Muong Khu singing club with 29 members. The Muong community here also preserves unique tangible cultural heritage such as traditional stilt houses and Muong gongs; establishing and maintaining the operation of a Muong ethnic musical instrument club in Cha hamlet with 17 members.
Besides preserving the stilt house architecture, the Muong community here also retains traditional lifestyles and many traditional tools for labor and production made from readily available natural materials, such as: weaving looms, bows, crossbows, tools for farming and cultivating fields... forming unique customs in daily life as well as in daily labor and production.
The cultural identity of the Muong ethnic group is further promoted by the local Muong community through a tourism model combined with sustainable livelihoods, creating motivation for the government and people to restore and preserve traditional values. Visiting eco-tourism and community tourism destinations in the commune, tourists can stay in villages with peaceful, pristine beauty; experience the simple agricultural life and interesting agricultural activities; listen to graceful Muong girls in traditional costumes introduce the weaving craft and brocade products; enjoy characteristic Muong dishes; and participate in cultural exchanges rich in ethnic identity with traditional dances, folk songs, and the resonant sounds of Muong gongs.
