Developing domestic blockchain technology contributes to ensuring digital sovereignty.

In the context of the world entering a period of strong digital transformation, blockchain technology is considered one of the strategic technologies capable of creating fundamental changes for the digital economy .

This was emphasized by Colonel - Dr. Hoang Van Thuc, Director of the Cryptography Technical Academy ( Government Cryptography Committee) when announcing the "Vietnam Blockchain Talent Search: VietChain Talents 2025" competition on May 6th.

The Blockchain talent competition offers prizes totaling 3.5 billion VND, contributing to the search for and training of human resources for the industry.

This competition is professionally sponsored by the Government Cipher Committee and the Vietnam Blockchain Association. The competition aims to discover, nurture, and gradually build a high-quality workforce for the country's blockchain technology industry.

According to Colonel Hoang Van Thuc, Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo and Decision No. 1236/QD-TTg dated October 22, 2024, of the Prime Minister on the National Blockchain Strategy, the Party and Government have identified blockchain as one of the strategic digital technologies prioritized for development, with the goal of placing Vietnam among the leading countries in the region in this technology by 2030.

"To realize that goal, in addition to development policies and technological infrastructure, we must mention the key factor that any country or economy must prioritize: people, a high-quality workforce with knowledge, skills, and a desire to excel," Mr. Thuc said.

The Director of the Cryptography Engineering Academy stated that the VietChain Talents 2025 competition originated from an initiative by a technology company, 1Matrix Company – a business launched simultaneously with the announcement of this competition.

Emphasizing that currently, alongside the rapid development of blockchain technology and digital assets, Vietnam is also actively perfecting its legal framework, Lieutenant General Dang Vu Son, former Head of the Government Cipher Committee, also stated that the Law on Digital Technology Industry and the Government Decree on the legal framework for crypto asset transactions are under development and will soon be promulgated.

Developing domestic blockchain technology not only helps Vietnam master foundational and core technologies, moving towards independence from foreign technology, but also contributes to ensuring digital sovereignty, information security, and national security in the context of a world strongly shifting towards a comprehensive digital model.

"For Vietnam to truly make its mark on the global digital technology map, we need more innovative people, businesses that dare to think big and act realistically, and a technology ecosystem with depth and identity," Lieutenant General Dang Vu Son shared.
