Developing domestic blockchain technology contributes to ensuring digital sovereignty

In the context of the world entering a period of strong digital transformation, blockchain technology is considered one of the strategic technologies capable of creating fundamental changes for the digital economy .

This was emphasized by Colonel - Dr. Hoang Van Thuc, Director of the Academy of Cryptography Techniques ( Government Cipher Committee) when announcing the contest "Searching for Vietnamese Blockchain Talents: VietChain Talents 2025" on May 6.

The contest to find talents in the Blockchain field has a prize of up to 3.5 billion VND, contributing to finding and training human resources for the industry.

This competition is professionally sponsored by the Government Cipher Committee and the Vietnam Blockchain Association. The competition aims to discover, nurture and gradually build high-quality human resources for the country's blockchain technology industry.

According to Colonel Hoang Van Thuc, Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo and Decision No. 1236/QD-TTg dated October 22, 2024 of the Prime Minister on the National Blockchain Strategy, the Party and the Government have identified blockchain as one of the priority strategic digital technologies for development, with the goal of bringing Vietnam into the leading group in the region in this technology by 2030.

"To realize that goal, in addition to development policies and technological infrastructure, we must also mention the key factor that any country or economy must prioritize, which is people, a high-quality workforce with knowledge, skills and aspirations to rise up," said Mr. Thuc.

The Director of the Cryptography Academy said that the VietChain Talents 2025 competition originated from the initiative of a technology company, 1Matrix Company - a business launched simultaneously at the event announcing this competition.

Emphasizing that currently, in addition to the rapid development of blockchain technology and digital assets, Vietnam is also actively perfecting the legal framework, Lieutenant General Dang Vu Son, former Head of the Government Cipher Committee, also said that the Law on Digital Technology Industry and the Government's Decree on the legal framework for crypto-asset transactions are under construction and will be issued soon.

The development of domestic blockchain technology not only helps Vietnam master the underlying technology and core technology, moving towards not being dependent on foreign technology, but also contributes to ensuring digital sovereignty, information security, and national security in the context of the world strongly shifting to a comprehensive digital model.

"For Vietnam to truly be on the global digital technology map, we need more innovators, businesses that dare to think big, do real things, and a technology ecosystem with depth and identity," Lieutenant General Dang Vu Son shared.
