Phu Tho is not only famous for its historical relics and traditional festivals, but also an attractive destination for tourists because of its unique culinary culture. In particular, during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the Cultural - Tourism Week of the Ancestral Land this year, tourism activities are associated with culinary culture, promising to bring visitors interesting experiences.
Thanh Son sour meat attracts many tourists to buy and enjoy when returning to Hung Temple.
Understanding the psychology of tourists when coming to the Land of the Ancestors who want to enjoy traditional dishes, local specialties as well as buy them as gifts, many establishments and cooperatives producing sour meat in Thanh Son district have had to increase their capacity to meet the needs of diners.
Ms. Ha Thi Ngoc Diep - Deputy Director of Thanh Son Sour Meat Cooperative said: "On the occasion of Hung King's death anniversary this year, the Cooperative processes 200-300kg of fresh pork every day, supplying the market with 1,300-1,800 products/day with many traditional flavors: Garlic, chili, galangal, shredded spring rolls, and sour bamboo meat. Right from the stage of selecting the pork source, the Cooperative chose the supplier, An Tam Agricultural Joint Stock Company in Luong Son commune, Yen Lap district. This is a unit that pays great attention to quality, ensuring that from the breeding stage to the slaughter stage, the pork is always fresh, clean, and safe for food hygiene. After receiving fresh meat from a specialized storage vehicle, the members of the Cooperative immediately start processing according to a closed, strict process. Therefore, our products quickly gain the trust of consumers."
Not only Thanh Son sour meat, but Doan Hung grapefruit, Lang Lieu sticky rice cake, Tu Da fermented fish, Thanh Ba purple bud tea, sour pickled cassava... are all unique products that attract tourists. Many OCOP products associated with local cuisine have been developed and widely promoted, attracting the attention of tourists.
Grapefruit products and grapefruit processed products of Hung Xuyen Agricultural Cooperative, Doan Hung District serve tourists on the occasion of Hung King's death anniversary.
According to statistics from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the total number of tourists coming to Phu Tho in 2024 will reach more than 6.6 million, of which 923,000 will stay overnight, with tourism revenue reaching VND 4,130 billion, an increase of 22.7% compared to 2023. Contributing to this success is the development of culinary tourism.
Ms. Pham Thi Hoang Oanh - Deputy Director of Hung Temple Historical Site said: “Culinary culture plays a very important role in connecting tourism services to form tourism products. The typical culinary culture of the destination will contribute to attracting more tourists, extending the length of stay, increasing the average spending of visitors, increasing tourism revenue and creating income for the locality. With the aim of introducing the traditional culture of the region, we have built the Hung Temple Night Tour to introduce the specialties of the Ancestral Land into the tourists' experience journey. After visiting and admiring the sparkling, magical and sacred beauty of Hung Temple at night, visitors will stop at the Gieng Temple 5-way intersection to visit, shop and enjoy dishes: Chung cake, Day cake, sour meat, Lam tea... We hope that the delicious dishes will leave an impression in the hearts of each visitor, contributing to attracting more and more visitors to visit, experience and explore the sacred mountain of Nghia Linh. night".
Stopping to enjoy Phu Tho specialties before ending the Hung Temple night tour, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong (Vinh Phuc province) excitedly said: “Enjoying the beautiful scenery and eating specialties with friends right at the foot of the mountain like this will be an unforgettable memory for us. Through the trip, I will introduce my friends and relatives to join in experiencing the culinary culture when coming to the Land of Ancestors”.
Nowadays, cuisine is not only a basic need, for tourists, the culinary experience is also an experience of cultural life and customs in each place they visit. Just in the way of processing or enjoying, the experience space has created different flavors. It is no coincidence that the typical dishes of the Ancestral Land are so interested and enjoyed by many tourists. Localities, units, and production facilities in the province have been actively bringing dishes into tourism business activities, especially during the annual Hung King's Commemoration Day.
This year's Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the Culture - Tourism Week of the Ancestral Land continue to be an opportunity for Phu Tho to further promote its culinary tourism potential. Many unique cultural and culinary activities are organized, promising to bring visitors unforgettable experiences.
