Many domestic and international tourists visiting Hoi An share the opinion that Hoi An has a very distinctive public space: its pedestrian streets. These are places for sightseeing and shopping where tourists have little to worry about regarding traffic accidents. The streets are also sometimes used for social activities, cultural events, and tourism -related events.
Over the years, from "Motor-Free Streets," "Streets for Non-Motorized Vehicles," to "Pedestrian Streets," this type of public green space has not only become a distinctive image of a friendly tourist city but also contributed to improving the quality of life for city residents.

Besides that, other public spaces that have left a lasting impression on tourists from near and far, as well as the city's residents, include: Hoai River Square, An Hoi Sculpture Garden (south bank of Hoai River), Kazik Park (Tran Phu Street), Nguyen Duy Hieu Monument Park, Trang Keo regulating lake area (Cam Ha - Tan An), and flower gardens in residential areas...
Mr. Le Cong Sy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Dai Ward, said that in recent times, the locality has focused on developing several coastal parks to provide tourists with vacation spots and to promote economic development. "The ward leadership has also directed the effective management of the remaining public parks and is seeking approval from the city to further expand the public beach area in the following locations," Mr. Sy said.

The Hoi An Ancient Town World Heritage Site is a small urban area, covering approximately 1 square kilometer, so the public spaces here are also small but diverse in type and nature. Over the years, the city government has implemented many policies that have contributed to the proper development and preservation of these public spaces.
Over the past 10 years, Hoi An City has invested hundreds of billions of VND in building, upgrading, and repairing more than 70 public parks. In addition, several public parks with investments of tens of billions of VND, such as Hoi An Park and Cam Thanh Memorial, have received initial investment and are continuing to be completed and upgraded to serve the recreational needs of locals and tourists.
The city has also decided to dedicate many prime land areas to be converted into parks and public spaces, such as: the Vietown area at 127 Phan Chau Trinh Street, nearly 7,000 m² ; the land of the Hoi An Street Children Protection Center on 18th August Street; and the land of the Tinh Thuong Cafe at the intersection of Tran Hung Dao - Le Loi - Nguyen Truong To streets, approximately 2,000 m² ...
Previously, the land in front of Vien Giac Pagoda and the plot at No. 1, Bach Dang Street had also been developed into small gardens. The city has also planned many large parks such as the 88-hectare multi-functional park in Thanh Ha area; the 36-hectare park between Phuoc Trach Bridge and De Vong Bridge; and a series of parks in the Dong Na - Ben Tre area, along the Co Co River, according to the provincial plan...
