Ca Mau City (Ca Mau province) is the central urban area of the province, attracting many tourists from all over to visit, experience street food, and enjoy art programs. The Ca Mau province's night-time economy development plan until 2025, with a vision to 2030, will be a driving force for Ca Mau City's economic development.
Cultural and artistic performances are held throughout the night during major holidays throughout the year.
According to the plan, during the pilot phase from 2022 to 2025, Ca Mau City will organize the exploitation of existing night-time economic activities in the area, ensuring aesthetics, security, and environmental hygiene; while minimizing the impact on the lives and activities of the people.
Accordingly, the area around the Provincial Cultural Center Square and Convention Center was chosen to organize a night food court and a children's electric car game area; a new night market was built on Road No. 8, Hamlet 1, Ward 1, selling fashion items, souvenirs, and typical products of Ca Mau...
At night, eateries and restaurants will serve Ca Mau's specialties to tourists from near and far.
Ward 2 is the central ward of the city. Over the past period, the People's Committee of Ca Mau City, along with the local authorities, has consistently strengthened efforts to maintain order and environmental sanitation. With its existing advantages, including numerous nearby accommodations and stalls selling Ca Mau's specialties, especially the landscaped park on Pham Van Ky Street, and the Phan Ngoc Hien and Ca Mau bridges connecting to Ward 5, Ward 2 offers an open space for tourists to visit and experience.
Mr. Le Thanh Tuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ward 2, said: "Currently, there is a company operating electric vehicle services that run around the city. Recognizing the development trend, we are connecting with and developing an additional 8-10 electric vehicles to serve food and beverage services, with lights decorating the vehicles. When it's time, at business locations, the vehicles will unload goods and tables and chairs to serve customers. After business hours, the goods are loaded back onto the vehicles, returning the original state so that people can move around conveniently."
Developing the night-time economy also boosts domestic consumption by focusing on the development of trade, services such as restaurants, hotels, culture, entertainment, food and beverage, shopping, and tourism, which take place from 6 PM the previous day to 12 AM the following day. Currently, Ca Mau City is calling on investors and businesses to join hands in developing the night-time economy.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau City, stated: “Besides capital, specific mechanisms and policies are needed for each type of activity, from using roads and sidewalks... Currently, Ca Mau City does not have land available for investing in a central entertainment and shopping area, thus facing many difficulties. Initially, the city has identified a few locations to set up nighttime experience points. In the future, we hope that the departments, agencies, and provincial leaders will pay more attention and provide more assistance so that the city can soon implement the nighttime economy project effectively, contributing to the economic development of the province.”
