Musiala has been able to return to training. |
The image of the 22-year-old talent jogging in the cold weather in Munich on the morning of October 23 moved fans - because just a few months ago, there were concerns that his career would be interrupted for a long time.
In his first on-field training session since July, Musiala completed 25 minutes of individual training with fitness coach Simon Martinello. He started with light jogging, moving around the pitch, then moving on to coordination and balance work.
Musiala then changed his boots, continued running and finished with a few touches of the ball with Serge Gnabry, who was also recovering. The smiles on both players’ faces said one thing: Musiala was back for good.
Musiala suffered the injury on July 5, during the quarter-final match against Paris Saint-Germain at the FIFA Club World Cup. A collision with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma left Musiala with a dislocated ankle and a broken fibula, requiring surgery immediately. For more than three months, he has been working hard in the gym to strengthen his muscles and ankle joint.
Sporting director Christoph Freund described the recovery process as “very positive”: “He is now able to bear full weight on the injured leg. More time is needed, but Musiala is on the right track.”
For his part, Musiala shared his sincere feelings: “It’s great to be back on the pitch. I feel strong and my foot is responding well. Every week I’m taking a step forward – from running, touching the ball and now accelerating. I want to be 100% when I come back, without rushing.”
For Bayern Munich, Musiala’s return is like a shot in the arm. The player once described as “Germany’s Lamine Yamal” brings with him the energy and creativity that the Bavarian midfield has been lacking. If all goes well, he could be back before the winter break – and then the Allianz Arena will once again be filled with cheers welcoming the “miracle Musiala”.
