One of the pilots who performed the most impressive maneuvers in that welcoming flight was Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen The Dung, Political Commissar of the 371st Division, Air Defense - Air Force Command.
Having successfully completed the mission of flying the Su30-MK2 "King Cobra" fighter jets to welcome the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 with his teammates, Lieutenant Colonel Dung is still overwhelmed with joy and pride.
"My comrades and I are very happy and excited because we successfully completed the welcoming flight mission and lived up to the trust and confidence that our superiors at all levels placed in us," Lieutenant Colonel Dung said.
Lieutenant Colonel Dung shared that, in harmony with the enthusiastic spirit of the entire army and people, and having received encouragement from superiors at all levels, from the Minister of National Defense to the commanders of the armed forces, divisions, pilots, technical support personnel, mechanics, radar operators, meteorologists, and logistics staff, he was very pleased to have successfully completed the assigned tasks.
This also serves as a welcome contribution from the air force and the Air Defense - Air Force Command, joining in the celebratory atmosphere of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day.
Elaborating on his flight performance, Lieutenant Colonel Dung said that during today's opening ceremony, he performed four drilling maneuvers and dropped 96 jamming flares, double the number of flares dropped during the dress rehearsal.
"Upon entering the platform area, I focused intensely on the maneuvers, engaging the afterburner to increase acceleration and straighten the aircraft, while simultaneously firing jamming rounds and performing multiple 'drilling' maneuvers in the air," Lieutenant Colonel Dung said.
Lieutenant Colonel Dung said that he and his teammates try their best to ensure that the movements are as precise and effective as possible, creating the most beautiful flying and lighting effects.
