On September 25, Save the Children (SCI) in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association - Association for the Protection of Children's Rights visited Phuoc Loc Secondary School to promote the message of saying no to child labor exploitation and abuse. This is one of the activities within SCI's "Prevention and Reduction of Child Labor" project.
Lawyer Tran Thi Ngoc Nu, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association, Children's Rights Protection Association, participated in a mock trial with students.
Lawyers, legal representatives and victims in mock trial
The mock trial recreates situations of child labor exploitation and abuse that often occur. Through the trial, lessons are drawn, students are more aware of the role of learning. At the same time, students learn more about how to prevent and protect themselves from bad people.
Mr. Nguyen Lu Gia, a member of SCI, said that the family is the steel shield that protects children. Adults have the responsibility to detect and support children who are at risk of dropping out of school to participate in illegal labor. In addition, the activity also helps raise awareness and responsibility of schools and society in implementing children's rights, the right to protection and the right to education.
Nearly 500 students watched the mock trial
Mock trial is a vivid visual form of legal propaganda, the content is taken from actual tried cases.
Changing the traditional form of propaganda by conducting a mock trial makes students interested. This is a visual and vivid form of legal propaganda.
"The mock trials are taken from real cases; some content related to personal information and case details are changed to suit the content and target audience," Mr. Gia informed.
