Looking back at the 13th National Congress of the Party, the fight against corruption, waste, and negative phenomena has been led, directed, and implemented decisively and comprehensively, both building upon past achievements and making breakthroughs, with many new policies and approaches. The significant results achieved not only serve to deter, educate , and establish discipline, but also contribute to the country's development in the new situation.
Adding functions to combat corruption; expanding the scope of preventing and combating "waste"; promulgating five regulations on power control and strengthening coordination among agencies with functions to prevent and combat corruption, waste, and negative practices – these innovations in thinking, awareness, theory, and action have brought about tremendous results in the fight against corruption, waste, and negative practices during the 13th Party Congress term.
"As the standing agency and advisory body, the Central Internal Affairs Commission has proactively advised the Steering Committee on selecting difficult tasks, sensitive areas with many obstacles, and key breakthrough areas to focus on directing. Secondly, it has advised the Steering Committee on organizing numerous inspection teams to conduct inspections in key areas. Thirdly, it has advised on many mechanisms to improve the effectiveness of the Steering Committee's direction and coordination," said Phan Dinh Trac, Member of the Politburo , Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, and Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.
Over the past five years, more than 2,300 party members have been disciplined for corruption or involvement in corruption, 174 officials under central management have been disciplined; and this includes key leaders.
Many cases and incidents involving intertwined organizations forming an ecosystem, with collusion and alliances of officials, businessmen, and criminals at AIC Company, Van Thinh Phat Group, FLC, Viet A Company, Phuc Son Group, and Thuan An, have been investigated and prosecuted rigorously and humanely. For the first time, investigations, prosecutions, and trials have concluded in the absence of defendants and accused persons who are currently at large.
"The Party Committee of the Central Public Security Ministry of Public Security closely adheres to the guiding principles and guidelines of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negative phenomena, resolutely implementing a comprehensive range of professional measures, proactively assessing emerging issues, and focusing on identified hotspots and key sectors of the economy," General Luong Tam Quang (Member of the Politburo, Minister of Public Security) stated.
"The State Audit Office has issued regulations on auditing cases with signs of corruption and misconduct, and based on that, we have summarized, learned from experience, and improved the institutional framework and methods for the future. Secondly, we focus on preventing and combating corruption and misconduct within the sector," said Mr. Ngo Van Tuan (Auditor General of the State Audit Office).
Combating corruption, waste, and negative phenomena does not hinder, but promotes socio-economic development. Punishing corrupt officials makes our Party stronger. Building on the achievements, in the coming period, the fight against corruption, waste, and negative phenomena will be further intensified with the spirit of placing national interests and the interests of the people above all else.
"In the coming period, many large-scale projects will be implemented, and many new policies and guidelines will be applied with more 'open' mechanisms, potentially leading to corruption, waste, and negative practices. Therefore, we must absolutely not be complacent or satisfied with the results achieved; the general spirit is to be more decisive, more effective, and more sustainable; resolutely and persistently fight against corruption, waste, and negative practices without any forbidden areas or exceptions, with the highest political determination," General Secretary To Lam emphasized.
Despite remaining challenges, intensifying the fight against corruption, waste, and negative practices will continue to be a consistent policy of the Party, a requirement for national reform and development, a political imperative, and a demand and expectation of the people.
