Before 2014, due to difficult family circumstances, Ms. Hoa worked as a rubber tapper and forest planter to make ends meet. While working, she noticed the increasing demand for industrial and forestry seedlings in Vinh Linh district, so she decided to borrow 200 million VND to invest in building a nursery covering nearly 1,000 .

Initially, lacking expertise in production techniques, she learned as she went, taking charge of all stages of the process to reduce labor costs. Through hard work and perseverance, Ms. Hoa gradually stabilized the nursery's operations, producing seedlings that met market demands.

Sharing her experience in establishing a plant nursery, Ms. Hoa said: "I find that the nursery business requires a lot of experience. From selecting a reliable source of high-yielding seedlings to strict management, regular monitoring, and care of the nursery to promptly prevent and control pests and diseases, limiting their spread because the seedlings are in their early growth stage."

"Providing high-quality seedlings also requires skill, especially ensuring the proper formation of the root system before sale, so that after planting, the survival rate of the seedlings exceeds 90%, thus building customer trust in purchasing them."

Thanks to her reputation in production and business, the number of customers buying seedlings from Ms. Hoa's nursery has steadily increased. With the profits earned, she has repaid her initial loan. In 2019, her family invested an additional 1 billion VND to expand to two nursery facilities with a total area of over 4,000 m2. Currently, Ms. Hoa's family nursery supplies seedlings to the entire Vinh Linh district and some neighboring areas.

Calculating revenue and profit, Ms. Hoa said: "On average, the nursery sells 5-6 million seedlings per year, with prices fluctuating around 1,000-1,200 VND per seedling depending on the market. After deducting expenses, the family earns a profit of about 500-600 million VND per year."

Ms. Hoa's family's seedling nursery model has been emulated by many households in Ben Quan town. Having risen from humble beginnings, Ms. Hoa is willing to share her production experience with the hope that the model will be replicated.

According to Ly Thi Nga, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Ben Quan town: "Currently, in Ben Quan town, besides Ms. Hoa's family model, there are nearly 10 other effective seedling nurseries. This contributes to developing the potential and advantages of the hilly land, creating jobs, increasing income for workers, and providing high-quality forestry and industrial tree seedlings to the market."

Stories of women who dare to think big, dare to act, and are determined to successfully start businesses with suitable economic models have been spreading, promoting a movement of active learning, working, and excelling in economic activities among women members throughout the localities of Vinh Linh district.
