The Government Office has just issued Notice No. 200/TB-VPCP summarizing the conclusions of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung at the working session with the leaders of Kien Giang province.

In the concluding statement, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and commended Kien Giang province for its proactive efforts and focused leadership in directing relevant levels and sectors to seriously implement the conclusions of the Party Central Committee and the Standing Committee of the Government, while also proactively proposing necessary mechanisms and policies to effectively carry out the assigned tasks.

The APEC 2027 High-Level Week is a particularly important political and diplomatic event for the nation; the Central Government has confidently chosen Phu Quoc as the host location. This is a great opportunity for Phu Quoc to make a strong breakthrough, develop to its full potential, contribute to the overall development of the province and the country, and enhance Vietnam's position on the international stage.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that preparations for the APEC 2027 High-Level Week must be closely linked to the development of Phu Quoc, with a long-term strategic vision, not only extending to 2030 and 2050 but also looking 100 years into the future; striving to build Phu Quoc city into an international-class destination, ranking among the top 10 largest and most attractive islands in the world, comparable to famous destinations such as Bali and Phuket…

The Deputy Prime Minister requested that the selection of projects and works be divided into two main groups: urgent projects that directly serve the APEC 2027 High-Level Week and need to be prioritized for immediate investment and implementation; and projects that indirectly serve APEC while contributing to achieving Phu Quoc's long-term and sustainable development goals. There should also be plans for the efficient and long-term exploitation and use of these works and projects after the APEC 2027 High-Level Week concludes.

Projects need to define a roadmap and completion timeline to achieve their goals; determine priorities and balance resources for effective implementation, ensuring the dual objectives of successfully hosting the APEC 2027 Conference while simultaneously fostering sustainable development for Phu Quoc and the country.

Phu Quoc must take the lead in building and implementing a digital transformation program before 2027 and a green transformation program before 2030; aiming for Phu Quoc Island to be free of gasoline and diesel vehicles (both cars and motorbikes), and to be one of the islands with the best environment in the world. A comprehensive review of core issues that need to be preserved in Phu Quoc, such as ecotourism and world-class tourism, is necessary. Ensuring the economical and efficient use of resources, especially land, water, and forest resources, while simultaneously developing solutions to balance, mobilize, and effectively utilize resources for development is also crucial.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested that ministries and relevant agencies support and guide Kien Giang province on mechanisms and policies, closely monitor projects, and promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles to ensure project implementation and construction are on schedule, according to goals and plans. Absolutely no corruption, losses, waste, or group interests should occur during the implementation of projects serving the APEC 2027 High-Level Week.
