Phu Thinh - New look from the Party's will and people's strength

The concrete roads were widened to 6m, many sections were brightly colored with flags and flowers. On both sides of the road were rows of green tea, stretching to the foot of the hill. The sound of machinery was bustling, the sound of children laughing and talking next to the spacious school. Each sound and image seemed to be proof of the strong transformation of Phu Thinh commune (Dai Tu) after 5 years of implementing the Resolution of the 26th Party Congress of the commune, term 2020-2025.

From a purely agricultural locality, Phu Thinh today has a new look: bright, modern but still retains its unique cultural features and rich identity.

At the end of 2023, Phu Thinh residents enthusiastically received the good news when the commune completed 19/19 new rural criteria. That joy did not come overnight, but was the result of months of perseverance and unity between the government and the people.

“In the past, the village road was only wide enough for one motorbike to pass each other. It was muddy in the rainy season, and dusty in the sunny season. Now it is very different, the concrete road is 5-6m wide, cars can travel comfortably. Everyone is excited,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Thinh, a resident of Pho village, his eyes shining with pride.

The movement “Expanding 6m-wide hamlet roads” launched in 2023 has truly created an infrastructure revolution in this rural area. Following the call of the Party Committee and government, the people not only agreed but also voluntarily donated land, dismantled structures, and cut down trees to open roads. Up to now, the whole commune has expanded nearly 9.5km of hamlet roads, of which more than 3.9km have been solidly concreted.

Not stopping there, Phu Thinh also invested in building new and upgrading cultural houses, schools, and medical stations. Land acquisition projects were carried out transparently and publicly, creating trust among the people.

In the middle of a long stretch of green tea, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan, from Phu Thinh 1 hamlet, meticulously picks each young tea bud. “Tea making is no longer like it used to be. I have to learn how to make tea according to VietGAP and actively participate in technical training courses to improve quality. It is hard work, but in return, I can sell it for a higher price, increase my income, and make life much less difficult.” - Ms. Nhan shared.

Tea trees have helped many households in Phu Thinh escape poverty and become rich.

Identifying tea as the spearhead of economic development, Phu Thinh has persistently supported people to expand raw material areas, apply clean production processes, and encourage the establishment of cooperatives and craft villages.

Currently, the commune has nearly 200 hectares of tea, harvesting about 1,645 tons of fresh tea buds each year, exceeding the resolution's target by 9.69%. In particular, Hai Yen Cooperative's tea products have been recognized as meeting 4-star OCOP standards - the pride of local people.

Not only tea, agricultural production in general also achieved many positive results. Cultivated land area was used effectively, rice yield reached 55.6 quintals/ha, average food output reached 2,175 tons/year, exceeding the resolution target.

Forestry and livestock economy has developed steadily. The total herd of cattle and poultry has been kept stable thanks to the effective implementation of disease prevention programs.

Another bright spot in Phu Thinh’s development picture is the rise of small-scale industry and services. Traditional industries such as mechanics, wood processing, and construction materials production are encouraged to develop.

Telecommunications, transportation, and trade services are increasingly expanding. Over 95% of households have access to and use the Internet and smartphones, creating favorable conditions for learning, trading, and accessing information.

One of the notable things at Phu Thinh is the special attention paid to social security. The rate of people participating in health insurance reached over 99%, the poverty rate decreased to 3.43% in 2025 (from 8.76% in 2022), far exceeding the resolution target.

Every year, the commune creates new jobs for 100 workers, maintaining the rate of trained workers at over 80%, of which over 40% have certificates and diplomas.

These figures are not only achievements but also reflect real changes in people's lives when they have stable jobs, knowledge and skills to escape poverty sustainably.

People of Dong Kim hamlet (Phu Thinh commune) contributed money and working days to build a spacious hamlet cultural house with a capacity of 160 seats.

Phu Thinh's achievements today are primarily due to the leadership and close direction of the Commune Party Committee. With the motto "People know, people discuss, people do, people inspect", the Commune Party Committee has promoted the exemplary role of cadres and Party members, creating unity in the entire political system.

5 years, a term, not long but enough for Phu Thinh to create proud marks. From wide concrete roads, spacious schools, to rice fields full of flowers to green tea hills - all create a picture of a new countryside full of vitality.

There are still many challenges ahead, but with the solid foundation that has been built, along with the spirit of solidarity and innovation, Phu Thinh is ready for higher goals of building an advanced new countryside, developing comprehensively, sustainably and more modernly.
