New position - new impetus
Amidst the country's significant transformation in its growth model, Phu Tho enters its new term with many advantages. The merger of three provinces has created a broader development space and greater potential, making Phu Tho one of the leading localities in the region in terms of economic scale, area, and population. Its central inter-regional location makes Phu Tho a crucial hub on the axis connecting Hanoi with the northern provinces. A diverse transportation network, including expressways, railways, and waterways, not only expands the economic space but also promotes the strong development of trade, logistics, and services. This is a clear comparative advantage that not every locality possesses.
The convergence of three regions, each with its own distinct strengths, further strengthens the foundation for the province's sustainable development. Vinh Phuc, with its modern FDI industry; Phu Tho, with its cultural and spiritual tourism and processing industry; and Hoa Binh, with its organic agriculture , renewable energy, and ecotourism, all complement each other, creating a multi-centered economic structure. Between 2020 and 2025, the economies of the three provinces are projected to grow at an average rate of 7.5% per year, exceeding the national average, a testament to the promising potential of this convergence.
At the workshop themed "Identifying the potential and development orientation of Phu Tho province after the merger in the period 2025 - 2030," Mr. Tran Duy Dong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, stated: The province aims to develop Phu Tho into one of the country's major industrial centers for high-tech industries, electronics, automobiles, motorcycles, etc., attracting emerging industries with high added value. It will maximize existing advantages to build Phu Tho into a leading destination with a strong brand and competitiveness domestically and internationally in ecotourism, resort tourism, cultural and historical tourism associated with festivals, and sports tourism.
Following the merger, the province formed three distinct dynamic zones: The central zone is the nucleus of urban development, education, healthcare, and high-quality services. The eastern zone is a key industrial area with a system of large-scale industrial parks, serving as an important driving force for high-tech industries, supporting industries, and
Logistics. The western and southwestern regions are developing ecotourism, organic agriculture, medicinal plants, hot spring resorts, and community tourism.
Besides its natural and cultural potential, Phu Tho also possesses a young workforce and a high-quality education system that ranks among the best in the country. This provides a foundation for the province to promote the training of high-quality human resources for new technologies, processing and manufacturing industries, and modern services. Digital infrastructure continues to be invested in, and data platforms, high-tech industrial parks, and logistics centers are being developed, paving the way for widespread digital transformation and innovation.

Innovation - the key to breakthrough
Recognizing innovation as a cornerstone and driving force for shifting the growth model from extensive to intensive, Phu Tho province focuses on key tasks: Promoting the development of socio-economic infrastructure, creating new breakthroughs in inter-regional and intra-regional connectivity; innovating the growth model in conjunction with economic restructuring. High-tech industries, supporting industries, electronics, precision mechanics, etc., are prioritized for development; cultural, historical, and ecological tourism, as well as trade and services, continue to expand to become key economic sectors. Simultaneously, the province strongly develops science and technology, especially digital transformation in businesses and state management agencies; accelerates administrative reform, builds e-government and digital government; and develops culture and cultivates Phu Tho's people to meet the demands of new development.
At a meeting with the Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh provinces prior to their merger (June 2025), General Secretary To Lam affirmed: Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh are three regions with three distinct identities, like three streams of culture, history, and people of the Vietnamese nation, flowing together throughout thousands of years of nation-building and defense; they are the cradle of Vietnamese culture and are now converging and closely linked in a new, promising development space. The connection between the industrial plains, the historical midlands, and the ecological mountainous areas not only creates favorable conditions in terms of administrative boundaries but also opens up opportunities to form a multi-centered, highly integrated development model, ensuring both the inheritance of tradition and a modern future.
2026 marks the beginning of the new term – a period presenting both opportunities and challenges. With a larger scale, a higher status, and richer potential, the province aims for a GRDP growth rate of 11-12% per year during the 2026-2030 period; and a GRDP per capita of 220-230 million VND. Phu Tho strives to become a high-quality industrial, commercial, logistics, tourism, healthcare, and training center for the region; and a destination for national and international events.
Amidst the warm spring colors spreading across the ancestral land, a new spring of aspirations and faith is blossoming. Phu Tho – the land of origin – is writing its next chapter in the nation's renewal, contributing to a prosperous and sustainable Vietnam.
