Springtime of clean and beautiful streets.
According to Nguyen Thi Bich Phuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Xuyen commune, in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the entire village and hamlet of Phu Xuyen commune was bustling with a general environmental cleanup. The sounds of bamboo brooms, shovels, and laughter echoed throughout the small alleys. The sight of elderly people picking up trash along walls, women trimming flower bushes, and youth union members clearing drainage ditches... has become familiar.
Along with that, villages organized the decoration of village gates, erected spring-themed miniature landscapes, creating vibrant and colorful spaces for taking photos. National flags fluttered along the straight roads, the village cultural centers were spacious, and LED lights gradually illuminated as the sun set. The atmosphere of "Tet reunion - spring gratitude to the Party" permeated every small alley.

Few people remember that there was a time when Phu Xuyen faced problems with spontaneous waste dumping and some roads deteriorating and losing their aesthetic appeal. Currently, 100% of villages and sub-districts have established their own environmental sanitation teams; nearly 3,000 people participated in general cleaning during the Lunar New Year.
In Do Xa village, the road that was once a "hot spot" for garbage is now affectionately called the "flower road" by the locals. More than 120 households have voluntarily planted hundreds of potted plants and bougainvillea flowers recycled from plastic bottles. A 30-meter-long mural depicting a Vietnamese village scene has become a popular photo spot every spring. The sewer pipes are spotlessly clean, with not a single piece of plastic floating in the wind.
In De Tham village, on the eve of the Lunar New Year 2026 (Year of the Horse), the Party Committee, the Village Head, the People's Mobilization Team, the Front Committee, and other village organizations actively promoted and mobilized the people to contribute to the construction of the village's welcome gate. With the strong consensus of officials, Party members, and the people, the project was completed in 20 days, with a total cost of 160 million VND. The completion of the welcome gate just in time for the New Year not only contributes to a more attractive appearance for the locality but also demonstrates the spirit of unity, responsibility, and the people's trust in the Party's leadership, ushering in a new spring filled with hope and determination for development.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, a resident of De Tham village, Phu Xuyen commune, shared that when the village launched the social mobilization campaign to build the welcome gate, the villagers wholeheartedly supported it. This is not only a project to beautify the village, but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity among the people. In a short time, households voluntarily contributed funds and labor to complete the project in time for the celebration of the Party and the Lunar New Year.
Tet begins with the pot of sticky rice cakes simmering over the fire and the deep bonds of affection.
If environmental sanitation is a community responsibility, then making banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) is a bond that strengthens neighborly ties. In Dinh Xa village, in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the courtyard of the community center is ablaze with fire all night long. Adults wash leaves and prepare beans; young people light the fires; and children eagerly watch the adults wrap the cakes. Each cake is the culmination of local rice, skillful hands, and shared affection.
The activity of wrapping bánh chưng (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) is not only for families, but also for those in difficult circumstances, families receiving government assistance, and elderly people living alone. In the flickering firelight, stories about tradition and the moral principle of "drinking water, remembering the source" are recounted in a simple yet profound way. Therefore, Tet is not just about material abundance, but also about the warmth of human connection.

Spring in Phu Xuyen becomes even more meaningful when social welfare work is implemented comprehensively, promptly, and targeting the right beneficiaries. During this period, the commune, in coordination with the City's Social Policy Bank and the State Bank of Vietnam, presented 47 gifts to disadvantaged families of policy beneficiaries, totaling 61.1 million VND. From the "Gratitude and Repayment" Fund, 3 individuals – war veterans and widows of martyrs – in difficult circumstances received 15 million VND in support; and 2,141 war veterans and relatives of martyrs received Tet gifts totaling 342.56 million VND.
The President 's Tet gifts were presented to 2,190 people with meritorious service and relatives of martyrs, totaling 665.4 million VND; gifts from the city were given to 2,316 individuals with a total budget of 3.43 billion VND, disbursed through bank accounts to ensure transparency. The city also organized visits and presented gifts to 4 exemplary people with meritorious service in the commune.
For social welfare beneficiaries, social pensioners, and the elderly, the commune allocated budget to give gifts to 4,793 people (400,000 VND/person), totaling 1.917 billion VND; at the same time, it implemented gift-giving according to the city's plan for 4,897 beneficiaries (300,000 VND/person), totaling 1.469 billion VND.
The celebration of longevity was solemnly organized for 1,714 elderly people, including 13 who turned 100 years old and 26 who were over 100 years old. The delegations who visited the homes of the centenarians not only presented gifts but also conveyed the deep gratitude of the younger generation.

The commune also organized a visit and presented gifts to the Hanoi Social Protection Center No. 2, which is currently caring for 319 individuals with particularly difficult circumstances. This activity spreads the spirit of "mutual support and compassion," ensuring that no one is left behind this spring.
For the first time in the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, Phu Xuyen commune will organize a New Year's Eve fireworks display at Phu Xuyen A Kindergarten (Thao Chinh village) with 120 low-altitude fireworks displays lasting 15 minutes, from 0:00 to 0:15 on February 17th. According to Mr. Bui Cong Than, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Xuyen commune, the local authorities will ensure security, traffic safety, fire prevention and control, and the necessary facilities for the cultural program and fireworks display. The requirement is to ensure absolute safety, solemnity, and adherence to regulations, so that people can enjoy the spring and celebrate the New Year in a peaceful atmosphere.

With the enthusiastic spirit and high determination of officials, Party members, and the people, Phu Xuyen is ready to enter the new year 2026 with the belief in a peaceful and happy spring; with the aspiration to build a homeland that is increasingly civilized, modern, and compassionate. And in the moment of New Year's Eve, when fireworks light up the sky, every citizen here can proudly say: Phu Xuyen - a place worth living in, where spring begins from the simplest things.
