The Premier League is expanding its global influence by partnering with major technology companies, aiming to enhance international fan engagement and broaden revenue beyond England.

For the upcoming season, the world's most expensive football league has signed a strategic agreement with Microsoft and Adobe. Under this agreement, the two American tech giants will provide artificial intelligence (AI) tools to personalize the fan experience. Users can access real-time data, stream match videos, and design content to share on social media.

One notable step forward is Microsoft's Copilot AI chatbot, expected to launch later this year, which will assist Fantasy Premier League players in selecting their squad. Meanwhile, Adobe's Firefly toolkit allows players to create custom jerseys and logos for their virtual teams.

This innovation comes as the number of Fantasy Premier League players has surged. On the very first day of the league's restart, over 1 million new users registered, bringing the total number of virtual team managers to over 12 million.

The Premier League expects that integrating high technology will encourage fans to subscribe to broadcast packages, purchase official merchandise, and interact more with the clubs. Both Microsoft and Adobe have become official sponsors of the league, along with Coca-Cola, Guinness, and Barclays.

According to Simon Morris, Vice President of Global Marketing at Adobe, today's fans not only want to watch the game, but also want to participate in the creative journey and connect with their favorite team, even if they live thousands of miles away from the stadium.

The league says it currently has approximately 1.8 billion global fans, with over 600 million new viewers joining in the past five years. Revenue from international broadcasting rights, including a $450 million annual contract with NBC, exceeds domestic revenue.

The Premier League is also investing heavily in emerging markets. Recently, the league opened offices in Shanghai and Mumbai, launched a global online store, and organized a summer friendly tournament in the US featuring Manchester United, Everton, West Ham, and Bournemouth.

According to data from Enders Analysis, the Premier League earned €2.1 billion from overseas broadcasting deals last season, more than the combined international revenue of the Spanish, German, Italian, and French national leagues. This figure is projected to increase by 29% over the next three years, driven by growth in markets such as Southeast Asia and Northern Europe.

While domestic television rights are starting to stagnate, the Premier League is leveraging technology and a global reach to maintain its position as the world's leading football league.
