PUBG Vietnam suffers defeat in Thailand.

From December 12-14, PGC ( PUBG ) and PMGC ( PUBG Mobile ) took place in Thailand. Vietnam had four representatives vying for a spot in the biggest tournament of the year for these two survival shooter games. Previously, The Expendables won PGC 2024, taking home a prize of $500,000 . However, this achievement was not repeated in Thailand this year.

In PUBG, TE (The Expendables) and AG (Anyone's Legend) are the two Vietnamese teams that qualified for the world finals. The defending champions showed overwhelming form in the three days of qualifying rounds. They left their opponents far behind and quickly secured their ticket to the finals. Conversely, AL showed unconvincing form despite having a roster full of top players. The only notable achievement for this organization at PGC 2025 was finishing first in the final game, just one point away from the Last Chance round, leading to their elimination.

Unfortunately, TE's performance declined significantly in the finals. After three days of competition, the team finished 15th out of 16 teams and received only $25,000 in prize money. The host team, Full Sense from Thailand, won the championship and took home $500,000 .

In the PUBG Mobile mobile game category, two Vietnamese representatives are D'Xavier and Team Flash. DX showed a strong performance on the first day of competition, topping the leaderboard. However, their performance gradually declined over the following two days. Team Flash, on the other hand, didn't perform well, frequently finishing at the bottom of the leaderboard.

In the end, DX finished 7th with $120,000 in prize money, while TF also received $61,000 . The PMGC 2025 champion team was Alpha7 from Brazil.

This year, for the first time, the PC and mobile gaming models are being combined to hold tournaments simultaneously, bringing a fresh eSports experience to the audience. PUBG was originally published by Krafton from South Korea. This publisher was later acquired by Tencent. The Chinese game company commissioned Lightspeed Studio to create the mobile version of PUBG and release it globally.

With the PC version gradually losing players, PUBG Mobile has emerged as one of the most successful mobile eSports games, generating significant revenue for its publisher. Its main competitor is Garena's FreeFire, which is popular in populous countries like Indonesia and Brazil.

In addition to the multi-million dollar prize pool, the publisher is also partnering with major brands to promote the tournament.

The top players in the recently concluded PGC and PMGC tournaments received a Porsche Cayenne worth nearly $90,000 . The tournament's sponsorship list also included major brands such as Anker charging accessories and Infinix mobile phones.

The growth of mobile eSports games also shows the future of this segment, alongside established PC games like League of Legends, CS, and DotA. Revenue from mobile games like Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile, and FreeFire is now many times higher than that of PC games. Their eSports systems thrive thanks to the large number of players and viewers.
