In the early days of summer, the garden of Ms. Hoang Thi Cuc's family, in residential area 9, Minh Xuan ward, becomes even more eye-catching. Under the trellis covered in lush green, clusters of plump, glistening grapes in the early morning sun are entering their harvest season.
The refreshing aroma of ripe fruit, combined with the lively chatter and laughter of visitors, creates a vibrant yet intimate scene. Far removed from the familiar image of gardens traditionally focused on conventional crops, this place is gradually transforming into an experiential agricultural model, where production and tourism go hand in hand.
Many people enjoy the experience of picking grapes in the vineyard. |
After studying the plant's growth characteristics and learning cultivation techniques from various models, at the end of 2024, Ms. Cúc began improving the soil and investing in a trellis system. From pruning and shaping the canopy to regulating nutrients and managing pests and diseases, she follows a strict process. The model is oriented towards safe farming practices, using organic fertilizers and applying an automatic irrigation system to create the best conditions for plant growth.
The land rewards hard work; Ms. Cúc's meticulous care has yielded its first sweet harvest. On an area of over 500 m², the green milk grape vines are in full bloom, with each vine yielding an average of 15-20 bunches of fruit. With a selling price of around 250,000 VND/kg, the product brings significantly higher economic value than many traditional fruit crops.
Leaving Ms. Hoang Thi Cuc's vineyard, we visited Mr. Hoang Van Cham's family's model Black Ha grape cultivation in Trung village, Xuan Giang commune. On an area of over 1,400 m², 500 Black Ha grape vines are also in harvest season. Each vine yields 7-10 bunches of fruit, each bunch weighing 0.5-0.8 kg. When ripe, the grapes are bright red, with thick flesh, seedless, and have a distinctly sweet flavor, selling for 150,000 VND/kg.
Black Hạ grapes are a highly demanding crop. To ensure the plant adapts to the climate and soil conditions, everything from soil improvement and pH adjustment to pruning and shaping techniques must be carried out according to strict procedures.
Not only in Xuan Giang commune or Minh Xuan ward, the wind of innovation in agricultural production is spreading to many localities in the province. In Bac Quang commune, the model of growing nearly 1 hectare of Ha Den grapes by Mr. Nguyen Van Thuyen is also showing positive signs. After more than two years of investment, overcoming technical challenges and weather conditions, the family's vineyard has entered its first harvest season with an estimated yield of over 300 kg of grapes.
On the journey to building a green, modern, and sustainable agriculture, the grapevines taking root in the countryside have brought in income, opening up new opportunities for the development of ecological agriculture, experiential tourism , and the building of local agricultural product brands.
