The locality is also implementing projects to support people in growing chestnuts.
Statistics show that Quang Lac has over 100 hectares of chestnuts, with an average annual output of tens of tons, generating an income of 300-400 million VND/year. In the commune, there are 10 chestnut gardens implementing a production model associated with experiential tourism .
Chestnut products have been registered for trademarks and labels and brought to the market, attracting many customers inside and outside the province to Quang Lac to order chestnuts for consumption. Chestnut growers here said that currently, the supply in the area cannot meet the demand, and everything produced is consumed immediately.
In addition to fresh chestnuts and roasted chestnuts, people in Quang Lac commune have created many quality products made from chestnuts such as: Chestnut milk, moon cakes made from chestnuts, chestnut sticky rice... which have been well received by the people.
In the coming time, Quang Lac commune will continue to guide villages and people to expand production and replicate effective models in the area; improve farmers' qualifications and knowledge through vocational training and specialized training.
In 2020, Lang Son fresh chestnuts were honored by the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development as the "Golden Brand of Vietnamese Agriculture in 2020". Currently, there are a number of chestnut growing facilities in Lang Son City and Cao Loc District that have been certified to meet OCOP standards from 3 to 4 stars.
