Accordingly, scientists from the University of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, and engineers and experts used ground-penetrating radar to search the area around Truong Chinh Street, Dak Cam Ward, Quang Ngai Province. The initial phase focused on a vacant plot of land approximately 900 square meters in size, located northeast of the Dak Cam Ward Martyrs' Cemetery and along Truong Chinh Street from house number 206 to 282.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Anh Cuong, Head of the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Physics - Engineering Physics, University of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, radar systems use electromagnetic waves that propagate into the Earth's interior and receive the reflected waves. From this, researchers can obtain cross-sections, allowing them to visualize structures beneath the surface.
“This device has been put into use in the project to search for the remains of fallen soldiers in the former Quang Nam province (now Da Nang city). Based on the results of radar measurements and delineation, the authorities have discovered a number of remains of fallen soldiers there,” Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Anh Cuong informed.

Architect Nguyen Xuan Thang, from Ho Chi Minh City, who has spent nearly 10 years searching for the remains of fallen soldiers, said: Using radar will save a lot of time, effort, and costs in searching for the remains of fallen soldiers. This technology has been widely used in many countries around the world and is now being used to search for the remains of fallen soldiers in the Truong Chinh road area (Quang Ngai province).
According to the plan, on the morning of June 5th, the Steering Committee 515 of Quang Ngai province directed the Team for the Collection of Martyrs' Remains of the Provincial Military Command (Team K53) to organize a ceremony for excavating, exploring, searching for, and collecting the remains of martyrs in the Truong Chinh road area in Dak Cam and Kon Tum wards (Quang Ngai province).
