Accordingly, immediately after the landslide occurred on the morning of November 24, Kon Tum Construction and Traffic Works Management Joint Stock Company quickly arranged 4 excavators, 6-8 cars, divided into two teams to quickly clear the route, one team going back to the end of the route and one team going forward to the beginning of the route to carry out digging. However, due to the rainy weather, the dumping sites were muddy, making it impossible to drive the vehicles deep to dump the soil. In addition, the rain will increase the risk of landslides, causing traffic congestion again. Due to the narrow area, the unit wanted to mobilize more vehicles and excavators to clear the route but encountered many difficulties.
“The unit has coordinated with local authorities to discuss a plan to temporarily open the route to Provincial Road 676, following Truong Son Dong Road and going out to Km 94 of National Highway 24. The distance compared to the old National Highway 24 will be 30 km further. For our part, we will arrange enough human and material resources to handle the landslide site; at the same time, we will divert traffic so that vehicles can pass safely,” Mr. Tran Kim Tuan added.
Previously, as reported by VNA, on the morning of November 23, at Km 112 + 100 to Km 112 + 200, National Highway 24, through Mang Den commune, Quang Ngai province, a serious landslide occurred, with the volume of rock and soil spilling onto the road surface of about 2,800 m3. Although the authorities promptly handled the situation and temporarily cleared the road at 12 noon on November 23, by the morning of November 24, rock and soil continued to slide down, causing traffic congestion.
