Accordingly, immediately after the landslide occurred on the morning of November 24th, Kon Tum Construction and Traffic Management Joint Stock Company quickly deployed 4 excavators and 6-8 trucks, divided into two teams to quickly clear the road: one team heading towards the end of the route and another towards the beginning to carry out excavation. However, due to the rainy weather, the areas where soil was dumped became muddy, making it impossible to bring the vehicles deep inside to dump the soil. In addition, the rain increased the risk of further landslides, causing traffic congestion. Due to the limited space, the company also faced many difficulties in mobilizing more trucks and excavators to clear the road.
“The unit has coordinated with local authorities to discuss a plan for a temporary route to Provincial Road 676, following the Truong Son East road and reaching Km 94 of National Highway 24. The distance will be 30 km longer than using the old National Highway 24. For our part, we will deploy sufficient personnel and resources to handle the landslide site; and at the same time, reroute traffic to ensure safe passage for vehicles,” Mr. Tran Kim Tuan added.
Previously, as reported by VNA, on the morning of November 23, a serious landslide occurred between Km 112 + 100 and Km 112 + 200 on National Highway 24, in Mang Den commune, Quang Ngai province, with approximately 2,800 cubic meters of soil and rocks spilling onto the road. Although authorities promptly addressed the situation and temporarily reopened the road by noon on November 23, soil and rocks continued to slide down on the morning of November 24, causing further road blockage.
