The Lien Chieu wharf area (part of Da Nang seaport) will be planned to accommodate containerized cargo, liquid/gaseous cargo, and bulk cargo.


In the detailed planning document for the development of the land and water areas of Da Nang seaport for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, submitted by the Vietnam Maritime Administration to the Ministry of Construction , the Lien Chieu port area was specifically proposed to accommodate various types of goods.

Accordingly, the Lien Chieu port area is planned to include container terminals, general cargo terminals, bulk cargo terminals, liquid/gas cargo terminals, and service terminals, as well as barge terminals for vessels with a deadweight capacity of up to 100,000 tons or larger when conditions permit.

Cargo throughput at the port area ranges from 8.7 to 13.7 million tons. Specifically, the container port will be planned to have 2-4 berths (including 2-4 piers) with a total length of 750-1,650m, capable of receiving ships with a tonnage of up to 100,000 tons or larger when conditions permit.

Of these, 2 terminals are operational, handling cargo volumes ranging from 7.5 to 11.9 million tons; the remaining 2 terminals are being developed to meet the needs of international container transshipment.

The liquid/gas terminal serving LNG and LPG storage facilities is planned to have 1-2 berths (including 1-2 piers) with a total length of 250-750m, capable of receiving vessels up to 100,000 tons or larger when conditions permit, meeting the cargo throughput demand of 0.45-0.75 million tons.

For the mooring buoys and transshipment anchorage areas in the Lien Chieu port area, relocation will be carried out in conjunction with the investment process for container terminals in the Lien Chieu port area.

In addition, investment will be made in two new liquid cargo berths (including two piers) with a total length of 380m, capable of receiving vessels with a tonnage of 30,000 tons, replacing the existing liquid cargo berths when they are relocated, meeting the cargo throughput needs of 0.75 - 1.05 million tons.
