Former Real Madrid nutritionist Itziar Gonzalez de Arriba has accused the club's medical team of using a free version of ChatGPT to provide dietary advice to the club's star players.
According to Goal.com, she posted this information directly on her personal Instagram page shortly after the Kylian Mbappe injury scandal broke.
According to the shared content, Ms. Gonzalez expressed her shock at the unprofessional working procedures at Bernabeu.
"I don't know what's worse: the misdiagnosis or the fact that they prescribed supplements based on results from the free version of ChatGPT," the former employee wrote on social media.

Ms. Gonzalez stated that this situation stemmed from internal conflicts and factionalism within the medical team. She revealed that she was unexpectedly dismissed before the season began, despite her working methods being highly regarded by the players.
A former medical staff member said that some stars had directly approached President Florentino Perez to praise their improved health thanks to their diet, but this inadvertently created animosity from doctors and kitchen staff.
Consequently, the players were even instructed by the medical department to stop following Gonzalez's nutritional guidelines. This confrontation created a toxic work environment where competent individuals were sidelined to make way for those who were "well-connected but lacked competence."
Currently, Ms. Gonzalez has filed a lawsuit against Real Madrid to seek justice after her contract was terminated indefinitely at the end of 2025.
The consequences of this lax management have made Real Madrid the target of international media criticism. The club's reputation has been severely damaged as medical experts have argued that providing free AI to athletes is irresponsible.
This also led to a major purge within the medical department in early 2026, with many staff members being laid off and Dr. Niko Mihic having to return to rectify the situation.

The incident became even more heated as it coincided with the injury scandal involving superstar Kylian Mbappe. Some social media reports claimed that the club's medical team had mistakenly performed an MRI on the wrong leg when the French striker was experiencing knee problems. Mbappe immediately denied the allegations.
Nevertheless, journalist Daniel Riolo vehemently accused the striker of "lying" to protect the club's interests. According to Riolo, the information that Real Madrid's medical team misdiagnosed the location of Mbappe's knee, causing him to return to France for re-examination, is entirely plausible.
"What we've presented has been confirmed by multiple sources. This isn't false information. To put it bluntly, he lied. I believe this was a planned scheme orchestrated with Real Madrid. Mbappe didn't want to harm the club's interests," Riolo told RMC Sport.
