This first- ever penalty shootout competition using humanoid robots brought together 8 teams.
This is one of the activities aimed at developing and improving robots towards autonomy and practicality.
Liu Hong, Head of Technology at the GSMA China, stated that the competition's goal is not to train robots to play soccer, but rather to enhance their autonomy, coordination, and practical application of skills through the sport. He added that the long-term expectation is for robots to become reliable companions for humans.

The goal of the competition is to enhance self-reliance, collaboration, and the practical application of skills.
According to the event organizers, in the future, intelligent robots will be deployed in various real-world situations, such as emergency rescue, to provide specialized services to humans.
The Mobile World Shanghai 2026 exhibition lasted for three days, from June 24th to 26th.
