Bustling school days after Tet

Báo Sài Gòn Giải phóngBáo Sài Gòn Giải phóng21/02/2024

On the first day of school after the Lunar New Year holiday, many schools in Ho Chi Minh City incorporated cultural and recreational activities, giving lucky money, and awarding prizes to create a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere for students and teachers, helping them quickly get back into the swing of things after the two-week holiday.

At Minh Duc Secondary School (District 1), the flag-raising ceremony began with a group dance performance to the song "Let's Forget the Past," performed by students from grades 8 and 9. A representative from the school administration extended New Year's wishes for good luck and success to all teachers and students. Following this, the Literature Department presented artistic performances with the theme "Springtime Remembers Uncle Ho," aiming to help students remember the sacrifices of their ancestors who contributed to the springtime of independence and freedom for the nation.

In a different way, the teachers and students of class 9/3 at Lac Hong Secondary School (District 10) had a fun first day of school with many games, poetry readings, and lucky red envelopes. Meanwhile, at Ha Huy Tap Secondary School (Binh Thanh District), all 104 staff, teachers, and employees received red envelopes from the principal to convey a message of good luck at the beginning of the year. Afterwards, in the classrooms, teachers organized folk games such as "picking flowers democratically" and reciting couplets for students to receive lucky red envelopes from their homeroom teachers.

At the high school level, during the schoolyard assembly at the beginning of the year, Tran Quang Khai High School (District 11) incorporated images of the Kitchen God – a symbol of Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) – into a skit with the theme "Safe and Responsible Internet Use." Many students said that thanks to the inclusion of the cheerful atmosphere of Tet, the dialogue was well-received and enjoyed by many students, making the message easier to understand and remember.

At Dao Son Tay High School (Thu Duc City), in addition to giving lucky money and wishing Happy New Year, the school also commended groups and individuals who achieved high results in sports competitions and actively participated in the school's spring festival. Afterwards, students from different classes interacted with each other through a traditional bamboo pole jumping game in the schoolyard, helping them relieve the stress of returning to school after the long Tet holiday.

Specifically at the preschool and primary school levels, due to the psychological characteristics of young students, schools have organized many activities such as quizzes with prizes, lion dance performances, and lucky gifts at the beginning of the year to create a joyful atmosphere and help them quickly get back into the swing of learning. At many school gates, spring decorations with banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), apricot blossoms, and red couplets will be kept until the end of the first week of the new school year to create an exciting atmosphere, helping students feel that "every day at school is a happy day," contributing to the successful implementation of the happy school model.
