(Baoquangngai.vn)- Nghia Hiep Commune (Tu Nghia) is considered the chrysanthemum capital of Quang Ngai . In recent days, despite the cold and rainy weather, the flower village has always been bustling with buyers, sellers and vehicles carrying flowers for sale.
Having been involved in the chrysanthemum growing business for more than ten years, every time the Lunar New Year approaches, the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thang (53 years old), residing in Dong Vien village, is the busiest time of the year. Because this is the time when chrysanthemum farmers receive the fruits of their labor after months of hard work growing and caring for the flowers.
This year's chrysanthemum crop has favorable weather, so Ms. Thang has increased the number of pots planted to 600. Ms. Thang said that this year's chrysanthemum crop is good, the plants are growing well, the flowers are big and beautiful, so all the chrysanthemums planted have been ordered by traders from Nha Trang, Binh Dinh, and Quang Nam provinces and are in the process of transporting the flowers.

At present, more than 70% of the chrysanthemums in the flower capital of Nghia Hiep have been ordered by traders and transported to provinces and cities across the country in time to supply the market for the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024. The remaining are just waiting to be delivered to neighboring provinces. Therefore, all flower growers are happy and excited.
“On average, chrysanthemum pots with a diameter of 50cm will be sold wholesale to traders at a price of 100-120 thousand VND/pot. As for pots with a diameter of 60cm, the price will be from 180-220 VND/pot,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Thang shared.

This year, Mr. Ta Van Tuan (50 years old), living in Dong Vien village, planted 1,200 pots of chrysanthemums. Mr. Tuan happily said that the chrysanthemums in his garden were ordered by traders more than a month ago. Flowers sold to distant provinces such as Dak Lak , Nha Trang, Dong Thap, Lam Dong... have almost all been exported. As for nearby provinces, around the 20th of the 12th lunar month, traders will bring trucks to pick up the flowers.
Ms. Phan Thi Cam (68 years old), also living in Dong Vien village, Nghia Hiep commune, planted 400 pots of chrysanthemums with a diameter of 60cm. Selling them for 220,000 VND/pot, Ms. Cam earned about 50 million VND. Currently, Ms. Cam's chrysanthemums are waiting for the calm sea to be loaded onto the ship, bringing the colors of spring to the people of Ly Son island.
Nghia Hiep flower growing has been around for nearly 50 years. Previously, flower growers mainly grew flowers on a small scale, taking advantage of their free time at the end of the year to grow flowers for Tet and earn extra income. Now, the whole commune has more than 500 professional flower growing households with a growing area of about 30 hectares.

“Hoa Nghia Hiep” has been granted a collective trademark certificate by the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Science and Technology for chrysanthemums, roses, and primroses and has been recognized as a 3-star OCOP product. From there, it helps maintain and develop the quality and affirm the position of Nghia Hiep flower products in the market.
The amount of chrysanthemums grown in Nghia Hiep this year is 300,000 pots, an increase of more than 30% compared to 2023. The leader of Nghia Hiep Commune People's Committee said that last year, the locality did not have enough potted chrysanthemums to supply the market, so this year people planted more. In addition, the favorable weather conditions made this year's flower crop very beautiful, bringing in an estimated revenue of about 45 billion VND.
