(Baoquangngai.vn) - Nghia Hiep commune (Tu Nghia district) is considered the chrysanthemum capital of Quang Ngai . In recent days, despite the cold, rainy weather, the flower village has been bustling with buyers and sellers, and vehicles transporting flowers for sale.
Having been involved in chrysanthemum cultivation for over a decade, the Lunar New Year approaches is the busiest time of year for Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thang's family (53 years old), residing in Dong Vien village. This is because it's the time when chrysanthemum farmers reap the rewards after months of hard work planting and caring for the flowers.
This year's chrysanthemum crop benefited from favorable weather, allowing Ms. Thang to increase her planting to 600 pots. Ms. Thang stated that the crop is bountiful, with healthy plants and large, beautiful flowers. As a result, all of her chrysanthemums have been pre-ordered by traders from Nha Trang, Binh Dinh, and Quang Nam provinces and are currently being transported.

The remaining flowers are just waiting to be delivered to neighboring provinces. Therefore, all the flower growers are happy and excited.
"On average, pots of chrysanthemums with a diameter of 50cm are sold wholesale to traders for 100,000 - 120,000 VND per pot. Pots with a diameter of 60cm are priced from 180,000 - 220,000 VND per pot," shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Thang.

The flower-growing profession in Nghia Hiep has existed for nearly 50 years. Previously, flower growers mainly cultivated flowers on a small scale, taking advantage of their free time at the end of the year to grow flowers for Tet (Lunar New Year) and to supplement their income. Now, the entire commune has more than 500 households engaged in professional flower cultivation, covering an area of approximately 30 hectares.
