Parents submit applications for their children at Lang Chanh Ethnic Boarding Junior High School.

For the 2025-2026 academic year, Thanh Hoa Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities was allocated 210 enrollment slots. The school received 319 applications. Ms. Bui Thi Kieu Oanh, Vice Principal of Thanh Hoa Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities, shared: “Adhering strictly to Circular No. 04/2023/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training and the guiding documents of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Department of Education and Training, the school regularly reported to the Department of Education and Training during the application process to seek timely guidance. Therefore, this year's enrollment process has basically not encountered any difficulties.”

To prepare for the enrollment of 6th grade students at Cam Thuy Ethnic Boarding Junior High School (Cam Thuy District), the People's Committee of Cam Thuy District has issued a decision allocating enrollment quotas for the 2025-2026 school year to students from 15 communes and towns in Zone I, ethnic minority and mountainous areas (according to Decision No. 861/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister ) in the district. With a total quota of 70, Cam Thuy District has allocated the quota proportionally to ensure that the assigned number of students is filled.

Similarly, in Lang Chanh district, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Chien, Principal of Lang Chanh Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, said: “For the 2025-2026 school year, the school has been assigned to enroll 70 students. However, from May 28th to 30th, we received 88 applications. It is expected that the district's admissions council will work and announce the results on June 12th and complete the enrollment process before June 15th.”

When submitting her child's application to Lang Chanh Ethnic Boarding Junior High School, Ms. Vi Thi Hoa from Van Ngoai village, Yen Thang commune, said: "After receiving the enrollment announcement from Lang Chanh Ethnic Boarding Junior High School, I came to the school to submit my child's application. Seeing the school's spacious facilities and the friendly teachers, I am very excited and reassured. I only hope that my child will be accepted so that they can study in a good environment with many friends and teachers who are dedicated to the future of ethnic minority children."

To ensure that the recruitment targets are met and that the correct candidates, namely children of ethnic minorities, are selected in accordance with the regulations in Circular 04/2023/TT-BGDĐT, Lang Chánh district held a meeting of the Steering Committee for examinations and admissions in the district, agreed on the policy and spirit of implementation, and disseminated it to relevant units.

According to Nguyen Ngoc Son, Head of the Education and Training Department of Lang Chanh District: “The enrollment process for Lang Chanh Ethnic Boarding Secondary School is carried out according to the guidelines of the Department of Education and Training and Circular No. 04/2023/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training. Basically, the enrollment process has not encountered any difficulties because the target group for enrollment as stipulated in Circular 04 is very broad, and the enrollment quota is appropriate to the needs and aspirations of the students. The Education and Training Department has advised the District People's Committee to issue an enrollment plan, establish an enrollment council, and allocate quotas to communes and towns... with the aim of conducting the enrollment process strictly, targeting the right students, and adhering to regulations.”

According to Clause 4, Article 9 of Circular 04/2023/TT-BGDĐT: In cases where the number of students eligible for enrollment is smaller than the capacity of the boarding school for ethnic minorities in the area, the Provincial People's Committee may designate additional training zones for ethnic minorities to enroll more students who are ethnic minorities from poor or near-poor households, and who, along with their parents or guardians, have resided in these zones for at least 36 consecutive months up to the date of application. This regulation expands the enrollment pool, easing the difficulties faced by boarding schools for ethnic minorities in their enrollment process.

Ethnic boarding schools are crucial and indispensable educational institutions in the care and education of children from ethnic minority communities in the province. Ensuring that these schools enroll the right and sufficient number of eligible students will contribute to raising the intellectual level of the population, cultivating human resources, and training talented individuals among ethnic minority children, thereby improving the quality of education in the province.
