With the April 30th holiday approaching, the tourism atmosphere at destinations like Sa Pa and Ninh Binh is heating up day by day, with many hotels and homestays fully booked.

According to Tuoi Tre Online , tourist destinations from the coast to the mountains in Northern Vietnam are bustling ahead of the April 30th and May 1st holidays.

This year, the extended five-day holiday period provides ample opportunity for locals and tourists to plan trips and sightseeing.

According to data from Booking.com's 2025 travel trends report, 65% of Vietnamese travelers prioritize destinations with pleasant weather when planning their trips. Therefore, destinations with comfortable weather are favored by tourists.

In the North, many destinations such as Sa Pa, Ninh Binh , and Ha Giang experienced high occupancy rates during the holiday period, and this trend continued to increase as the holiday approached.

Ms. Hoang Thi Vuong, head of the Culture and Information Department of Sa Pa town, said that the occupancy rate of hotel rooms during the April 30th holiday is currently at 86%. The occupancy rate for 3-star and above hotels is around 95%. This figure changes daily, as tourists tend to book rooms closer to the holiday date.

During this period, Sa Pa is organizing the "Sa Pa - Land of Love" Summer Festival with many attractive activities for tourists.

These include the Fansipan Rose Festival, the "Sa Pa - A Gathering of Colors" street festival, the Sa Pa Love Market, and exploration of the cultural spaces of ethnic groups. The opening ceremony of "Sa Pa - Land of Love" will be held at 8 PM on April 29th at Quan Square.

Sa Pa is expected to welcome around 180,000 visitors during this holiday period.

With the advantage of being only an hour's drive from Hanoi, Ninh Binh is also a favorite destination for tourists during holidays.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen Thuong, head of marketing at Thung Nham eco-tourism area (Ninh Binh), said that tourists started booking rooms from the beginning of April. Currently, the occupancy rate at the resort has reached 100% throughout the 5-day holiday.

During this period, the tourist area has set up check-in points to celebrate the Liberation Day of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country. In addition, there are day-trip packages including sightseeing, meals, and access to the swimming pool, priced from 400,000 to 500,000 VND per person.

Late April is also the bird breeding season, and a large number of birds return to Thung Nham. Visitors can immerse themselves in the lush green nature while admiring many rare bird species of Vietnam.

During this holiday, visitors to Ninh Binh can enjoy many exciting experiences with activities such as: the Hoa Lu brocade and traditional costume show, Hoa Lu dance and painting, Luu Giang dyeing, the "Running Back to the Village" program, the 2025 off-road car race, etc.

The Ninh Binh Department of Tourism requires tourist destinations and tourism businesses in the area to ensure safety, security, order, environmental hygiene, food safety, and civilized conduct in tourism activities during the holiday period.
